## Friday afternoon at Yugwanjang Banjeom, across from The Hyundai Mokdong

I'm recommending Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo, a Chinese restaurant that's a local Mokdong favorite. I stopped by last Friday afternoon when I was feeling peckish. I wanted good jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk, so I headed to Yugwanjang across from The Hyundai Mokdong.

![Table setting of jjajangmyeon and mini tangsuyuk at Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/yugwanjang-banjeom-omokgyo-jjajang/yugwanjang-banjeom-omokgyo-jjajang-01-emnng-1200.webp)

The smell of delicious jjajangmyeon mixed with the crispiness of tangsuyuk made for a great Chinese meal. It's always so satisfying and well made here that I end up scraping the bowl clean.

### What we ordered: mini tangsuyuk and two jjajangmyeon

Today's order: mini tangsuyuk ₩13,000, two jjajangmyeon at ₩8,000 each, and a Zero Coke for ₩2,000, ₩31,000 total. Great value and a generous serving.

## Self-serve corner: free onions and chunjang

Pickled radish and pickles come as standard, but you can grab more from the self-serve corner.

Since I usually love onions, I brought over onions and chunjang. Eating them together really bumps up the flavor.

## How the mini tangsuyuk and jjajangmyeon arrived

The mini tangsuyuk came out soon after. Jjajangmyeon alone already tastes great, but the mini tangsuyuk made the meal even heartier and more satisfying.

The tangsuyuk is mostly crispy. You can tell right away it was just fried. It looked so appetizing I wanted to eat it all over again. Between the two dishes, the tangsuyuk was the tastier one for me — tangsuyuk really is a crowd-pleaser wherever you go.

The jjajangmyeon came out next. Since the food is made after you order, dishes come out one at a time in order, so you shouldn't rush. There were quite a few customers, and each dish came out in order of when it was ordered, warm and full of flavor.

That's the look of a rich, thick jjajangmyeon. Very appetizing. It comes out piping hot and gets mixed right there.

![Freshly fried mini tangsuyuk](https://img.superchart.com/images/yugwanjang-banjeom-omokgyo-jjajang/yugwanjang-banjeom-omokgyo-jjajang-16-1n7p8-900.webp)

It really shows this is a proper Chinese restaurant, making dishes look this appetizing with carefully chosen ingredients.

![Plate of mini tangsuyuk with sauce on top](https://img.superchart.com/images/yugwanjang-banjeom-omokgyo-jjajang/yugwanjang-banjeom-omokgyo-jjajang-17-1m865-900.webp)

There's real effort and care behind the food, from prepping ingredients early in the day. Since cooking only starts once you order, you get freshness along with great flavor, aroma, and texture.

### Is the jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk combo worth it for two?

Jjajangmyeon and jjampong already pair well together, but eating jjajangmyeon with tangsuyuk like this makes the combo even better.

There's a secret ingredient in the chunjang, and they don't skimp on it, so the texture and flavor when you eat it are great. Mix it thoroughly with the wheat noodles and slurp away.

Plenty of vegetables and meat went into it too. It's a bowl that anyone would love.

The plump noodles feel chewy, bouncy, and soft all at once.

Dip it in the sauce too. Crispy outside, tender inside. It gets tastier the more you eat, with that craveable flavor, and since it's freshly fried it's a real treat.

Crispy tangsuyuk, rich sauce, and bouncy jjajangmyeon noodles — it was a day I got to fully enjoy the deep flavor of Chinese food after a long while.
