To celebrate the end of Jeff's parental leave, we took a Gangneung trip after a while. This is already our fourth time in Gangneung this year. The sea always heals me, so I went in again with high expectations.

Before having our baby, I used to seek out quiet cafés with a great view. But since Saessak was born, that kind of place has become hard to enjoy — it's tough to sit still, and between chasing a crying, moving baby, there's just no room left to appreciate a view.

Then, by chance, I found out about a restaurant with a great view that's also easy to visit with a baby, and decided to check it out for a bit of a mood boost. That place is Gossi's Donghae Makguksu Gangmun Main Branch, near Gangmun Beach.

## Why it was so easy to visit with a baby

After we sat down with the baby, I asked staff about baby food first — and the staff member brought us baby seaweed separately, without being asked twice.

That kind of thing seems small, but for a parent out with a baby, it's genuinely appreciated. There were baby chairs ready on every floor, and a baby spoon was available too. On top of that, there was even a microwave, which made warming the baby food we'd brought along really convenient.

Since we could just go use the microwave ourselves whenever needed, we didn't feel awkward reheating food that had gone cold multiple times while feeding him. When eating out with a baby, taste matters, but these kinds of amenities make a bigger difference than you'd think.

## How were the window seats with the ocean view

We sat Siwoon in the baby chair and finally settled in for our own meal. The seaside front seats were already full, so we took another spot with a great view instead ♥️

The ocean view from the window was even better than I expected. We were busy juggling the baby while eating lol, but every so often glancing out at the sea really made it feel like a proper trip.

That day we ordered four things: eolkeun sunkal, bibim makguksu, flying fish roe gimbap, and salad gimbap.

The eolkeun sunkal had a warm, spicy broth that made for a hearty meal, and the bibim makguksu had that tangy, spicy sauce that gave it a real makguksu taste.

But the dish I personally remember most was, surprisingly, the buckwheat gimbap (seaweed rice roll). At first it felt a bit unusual to have gimbap alongside makguksu, but after trying it, it worked better than expected. Made with buckwheat, it felt lighter and less heavy than regular gimbap, and the flying fish roe gimbap and salad gimbap each had their own distinct flavor, so it was fun picking between them. Paired with the makguksu, the combination was really solid. Especially if makguksu alone feels like it's missing something, ordering the buckwheat gimbap alongside it seems like a good move.

## Would I recommend this as a meal spot on a Gangneung trip with a baby

Finding a Gangneung makguksu spot with an ocean view is great, but when you're traveling with a baby, I think what really matters in the end is whether you can eat comfortably. On that front, having baby chairs, baby dishware, and even a microwave all in place was something I especially appreciated.

If you're looking for a place to eat near Gangmun Beach, this one's worth adding to your Gangneung recommendations list. Above all, being able to see the sea, eat good food, and take care of the baby comfortably at the same time was the best part.

And if I visit again, I think I'll order the buckwheat gimbap again. At first I thought of it as just a side dish, but after eating it, I keep thinking about it lol.
