## Where is Chat Baker in Anseong?

Today's review is Chat Baker Café & Bakery, a large café close to Anseong IC! Hours are 09:00–23:00, last order 22:00, brunch and pasta run 11:00–20:00, and it's open every day.

Have you heard of Gongdo-eup in Anseong? Anseong sits close to Cheonan in Chungnam, and it's a pretty outlying part of Gyeonggi with a strong countryside feel. But as new apartment complexes have gone up in Gongdo-eup and people have moved in, good restaurants and cafés have followed! Among them, a café famous for Gongdo brunch and located near Anseong Farm Land — this is Chat Baker!

It's inside an outlet building in Gongdo, Anseong, and honestly the accessibility is on another level. Guys tend to get worn out following along on shopping trips, right? But you can rest at Gongdo Chat Baker! Shop and hit the café — two birds, one stone.

### Parking and the entrance at Chat Baker

The parking lot is huge, laid out like this! So there was no sense of cars parked haphazardly or of not being able to find a spot.

Since it's inside the outlet, you come in through the entrance with stores on both sides, and in between — see the counter in the distance?

This is the rug on the floor. The café is also known for its old-LP motif, so even the rug is styled like a record.

From far away it looked like there were no customers? But up close, it was packed! Guess I was the only one who didn't know! It felt like everyone from Anseong and Pyeongtaek was here!

You can go up to the second floor through the counter area, but if you turn left right at the entrance, there's a staircase that takes you straight up.

Look at this — see, I told you I was the only one who didn't know. A 2025, 2026 Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation gold award?! Having already visited, I could totally see why.

## What kinds of bread does Chat Baker have on display?

The bread display at Chat Baker starts right at the entrance with loaves of sliced bread. It greets you from the doorway, and there were so many varieties I kept reaching for!

Next to the counter is a case of cakes made with various seasonal fruits.

Bread here isn't so much a snack as a meal replacement for a lot of people, so there was a variety of ciabatta and campagne ready to go.

### Is Chat Baker really a salt bread favourite?

When I asked friends who live near Chat Baker, apparently it's actually a famous salt bread spot!!! Maybe that's why there were so many kinds — ambutter (sweet red bean and butter) salt bread, plain, cream, and more!

Besides bread for adults, there was also plenty of sausage-based bread that kids would love, made to enjoy together with children!

The trendy chocolate baguette and squid ink cheese bread! Sausage, which Europeans love! There was even jamón-based bread! And a croissant with mango, a seasonal fruit! Typical of the kind of bread I like, so let me go pick these out and order!

The counter isn't cramped or tight, so checkout was quick!

As befits a large café representing Pyeongtaek and Anseong, Chat Baker even has live performances! Jazz at a big café on an autumn day — doesn't that just hit different?

## How the Jeju carrot lemon juice and vanilla bean latte taste

The drinks I ordered at Chat Baker were a house-made vanilla bean latte and two glasses of Jeju fresh carrot lemon juice. There's coffee and various drinks on the menu, but I went with these two!

Can't forget the bingsu (shaved ice dessert) either! As befits a brunch café, you could also order a variety of pasta and risotto!

They also brew drip coffee with good beans! If you know your coffee, drip coffee seems like a solid choice here.

With so many customers, I expected drinks and bread to take a while, but they came out incredibly fast — really impressive!

## First-floor seating, the water-curtain window wall and the terrace

While waiting at the counter for the drinks, I looked around the first floor! The spacing between tables was generous, with a mix of cushy chairs and group seating to suit different preferences — I thought it would make a great date spot in Anseong or a nice place for a family gathering!

It was clearly clear skies outside, right? But water was running down the floor-to-ceiling window! Looking closer, it's meant to block UV rays and reflected heat, but design-wise it looked amazing too.

From outside, it looks like this! Just watching the water slide down the glass makes you feel cooler!

Stepping out, there's also a terrace, and people nearby mentioned it's a dog-friendly café! Having such different moods indoors and outdoors was really nice.

## What is the second floor of Chat Baker like?

With a variety of table and chair arrangements, good for group get-togethers or a date, it was such a nice space to sit around and enjoy coffee in!

Honestly, I didn't expect much from the second floor. From outside the building it looked cramped, and I mostly assumed it would be similar to the first floor!

But with the floor-to-ceiling windows it looked even more spacious, and with an overall blue-toned backdrop, it felt like it cleared your eyes.

## Four kinds of bread and the fig cake: taste review

Here's the bread and drinks I ordered! Honestly, I'd already eaten a big meal before heading to Chat Baker. But four kinds of bread?... They all looked so good I couldn't narrow it down.

The Jeju carrot lemon juice combined the sweetness of carrot with the tart, refreshing kick of lemon really well! The latte made with real vanilla bean had a completely different sweetness from vanilla powder or syrup — that pure vanilla sweetness was so good!

With so many customers, none of the bread felt stale at all. Bread usually goes soft and chewy after just a day, right? Chat Baker seemed to bake and sell fresh, same-day.

True to its reputation as a salt bread spot, the ambutter salt bread had just the right amount of butter and sweet red bean, never too much!

Something this good deserves another look!!!!

A bite of the fig cake, in season right now, too! The bread part was soft and there was plenty of fig in it, so it didn't feel like a plain whipped-cream cake — it actually tasted delicious as a cake in its own right!

## What 1 hour 30 minutes at Chat Baker felt like

I sat at the café enjoying bread and drinks for about an hour and a half. Even so, customers kept coming in, and the staff kept cleaning up busily every time a table emptied out! Honestly, the staff overall were friendly and clearly cared a lot about cleanliness.

That's my review of Chat Baker, well known for brunch and bakery in Gongdo, Anseong. I'm planning to visit again with family soon for Chuseok! Hope we can all go together!
