## In short

Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Yongin Main Branch is a sundaeguk (pork and blood sausage soup) restaurant at the entrance to the trotters alley in Yongin Central Market, Cheoin-gu. Two bowls of regular sundaeguk at 11,000 won each and a small mixed sundae platter brought native sundae, head meat, lung and liver to the table. The broth at Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk is milky and deep, and even the regular bowl is packed with meat, making it worth a stop while shopping at Yongin Central Market.

## Where is Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Yongin Main Branch?

Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Yongin Main Branch is a sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) restaurant right at the entrance to the trotters alley inside Yongin Central Market. Today's post is a review of this Yongin Central Market favorite!

Yongin Central Market has alleys organized by theme — a trotters alley, a mandu (dumpling) alley, and so on. Today's spot, Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk, sits right at the entrance to the trotters alley, so it was easy to find.

Hours: 11:00–21:30
Break time: 15:20–16:20

Even though it's a market stall, they had small folding stools set up out front so you could sit while waiting, even if there's a line.

The restroom is out the door and to the right — you shouldn't head into the arcade for it.

Since it's such a popular place, you'll want to avoid the break time.

## Menu and dining room at Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk

As you'd expect from a sundaeguk restaurant, sundaeguk is the base of the menu, alongside side dishes that go well with drinks.

![Wall display of TV appearances and celebrity visits](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-05-n4ne3-m-900.webp)

Being a well-known spot, celebrity chef Hong Seok-cheon and chef Lee Won-il have both stopped by, and even Professor Hwang Gyo-ik from the TV show Sooyomisikhoe has been here! Celebrities coming through, famous chefs coming through — that's basically a stamp of approval, haha.

![Interior of the sundaeguk restaurant with 2- and 4-top tables](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-06-4p5j2-900.webp)

![Table layout suited to solo diners](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-07-ol13f-900.webp)

The dining room is mostly 2- and 4-tops, so solo diners can sit down and eat right away.

I noticed every table had chapssal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage) alongside their meal — turns out it's free if you leave a receipt review! Smart move to leave that review and enjoy the chapssal sundae too.

## What side dishes come with the sundaeguk?

At Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Yongin Main Branch, the side dishes are set out as soon as you sit down, and the kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) in particular was excellent.

![Basic side dishes set out as soon as you sit down](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-09-n3zyf-900.webp)

![Kkakdugi served as a side dish at the sundaeguk restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-10-1xiwn-900.webp)

I really loved this kkakdugi. At a gukbap (soup with rice) restaurant, the kimchi is like 80% of the experience — and if even the kimchi is this good, that says it all.

## Regular sundaeguk at 11,000 won: how big is the bowl?

Of everything we ordered, the two bowls of sundaeguk arrived first!

![A bowl of regular sundaeguk with pale, milky broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-12-1ym6m-900.webp)

That pale, milky-white broth!

This is the regular sundaeguk (₩11,000), and just look at how much is packed into it.

Not even the large size, and the portion is already pretty impressive, right?

![Chili oil, ground perilla seed, salt, and pepper on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-13-1h0jz-900.webp)

Each table had chili oil, ground perilla seed, salt, and pepper on hand so you could season it to your own taste.

![Minced chili, dadaegi, and salted shrimp provided on request](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-14-1y9gj-900.webp)

Minced chili, chili paste (dadaegi), and salted shrimp (saeujeot) came separately if you asked for them!

I love piling in a ton of minced chili and dadaegi, so I threw in a big handful.

Look at the sundae inside — not your typical glass noodle sundae, but four whole pieces packed with vegetables and meat.

![Sundae lifted out of the soup on a spoon](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-17-1s5yh-900.webp)

## Is the small mixed sundae platter good with a drink?

Finally, the small mixed sundae platter arrived! Rather than being packed with plain chapssal sundae, this small platter came out perfectly sized as a snack to go with drinks.

![A small mixed sundae platter, a good drinking snack](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-18-1240o-900.webp)

So many vegetables and a thin casing inside the sundae!

Sundae is great dipped in salt, but it's just as good dipped in ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) like this!

![A piece of native sundae dipped in ssamjang](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-19-bww8v-900.webp)

There was a generous amount of lung, too.

And the liver wasn't dry at all — it was soft and went down smoothly.

## Native sundae and head meat inside the soup

Back to the soup! Unlike most other sundaeguk restaurants that mix in one piece of native sundae alongside chapssal sundae, this bowl only has this native sundae in it!

![Native sundae inside the sundaeguk bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-21-1g561-900.webp)

Top the sundae with a bit of salted shrimp and take a bite — pure bliss!

![A spoonful of sundae topped with salted shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-22-130x9-900.webp)

This is the head meat mixed in.

The lean meat was tender, not dry at all, and went down smoothly.

Another dab of salted shrimp, and one more bite~

There was so much of it that every time you lift your spoon, more just keeps coming up.

![Tender head meat lifted out of the sundaeguk](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum/yongin-jungang-market-sundae-gukbap-modeum-23-lconx-900.webp)

As is proper for a gukbap, I dumped a whole bowl of rice right into the soup!

I gave it a good stir so every grain of rice soaked up the broth!

Take a bite like this, and it's truly delicious!

## Is Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk worth a visit?

That was my visit to Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk, a Yongin Central Market favorite, where I tried the sundaeguk and the small native sundae platter. The broth was pale and rich, and there was so much packed into the soup — it was all really delicious! If you ever find yourself at Yongin Central Market, I highly recommend stopping by.
