Even the name set it apart from a typical pasta — it's made with the umami of salted pollack roe and salted octopus, plus whole perilla seeds for a nutty flavor and texture. At first I wasn't sure salted seafood and pasta would work together, but it turned out to be a great combination. The subtle umami of the salted seafood came through gently, and the nuttiness of the perilla oil and whole seeds kept me reaching for more!! I went in thinking this was a Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station, but it turns out it's a pasta place too!! Lifting the lid revealed plenty of abalone and shiitake mushrooms in butter, looking both healthy and hearty. One bite in, the nutty richness of the butter paired perfectly with the abalone and shiitake. I loved the warm, cozy feel that's特有 to hot pot rice, and the subtle aroma of the shiitake mushrooms combined with the clean taste of the abalone gave it that comforting, classic Korean flavor.
