## A Gangnam Station lunch gathering with friends

![Moa Gangnam, visited for a Gangnam Station lunch gathering](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-03-jvxom-900.webp)

The day we planned to meet up in Gangnam with friends. Since it had been a while since we'd all seen each other, I wanted somewhere with good food and enough space to chat comfortably — and that's how I landed on Moa Gangnam, a Gangnam Korean restaurant everyone raves about!!

![Exterior of Moa Gangnam, between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-04-1yufs-900.webp)

Moa Gangnam sits between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, so it's easy for friends to reach, and the exterior alone gave off a clean, upscale vibe.

![Menu board placed at the store entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-05-1r3ct-900.webp)

There's a menu board right at the entrance, so it was nice to be able to check the menu before even stepping inside.

![Stone-like door handle at the entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-06-1nc2e-900.webp)

One small detail caught my eye right from the entrance — the door handle!! Instead of the usual metal handle, it looked like it was made from stone, which made the place feel special from the very first step in.

## A wood-toned space with a cozy, stylish atmosphere

Once we opened the door and stepped inside, the mood we'd felt outside carried through naturally. Wood-toned furniture, warm lighting, and a clean modern interior all came together in harmony.

![Interior with wood-toned furniture and plants](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-07-1kjjo-900.webp)

The warmth of the wood tones made the space feel comfortable, and the plants placed here and there added an even more natural touch. With everything neatly arranged and softly lit, the whole place felt calm and upscale!! The window seats where sunlight streamed in were especially pretty.

It was a great spot to chat comfortably with friends over a meal, but I also thought it would suit dates, blind dates, or wedding-invitation gatherings — occasions where atmosphere matters.

## A menu where every choice was a good one

We had booked ahead, so we were shown to our reserved table.

Once we sat down and looked over the menu, everything looked delicious, and we all struggled to decide. True to its reputation as a Gangnam Station restaurant, everything on the menu looked great!!

![Table setting while deciding on our order](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-12-19bat-900.webp)

The lineup ranged from familiar everyday Korean dishes to fusion Korean options for something different, so we each called out what we wanted and picked accordingly.

Since there were several of us, we decided to share a variety of dishes rather than order just one thing each. After some deliberation, we landed on four dishes: grilled scallop & endive bites, abalone mushroom butter hot pot rice, perilla oil salted-seafood pasta, and spicy buckwheat noodles with flounder.

![Table spread with all four dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-14-hk4dw-900.webp)

The dishes came out one after another, and each one was beautifully plated and looked so appetizing. Seeing the table filled up made all of us — my friends and me — happy!!

## Golden-grilled scallop & endive bites

![Plating of grilled scallop and endive bites](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-15-kfruu-900.webp)

I ordered the grilled scallop & endive bites because I was in the mood for something fresh and salad-like. It came with golden-seared scallops, shrimp, and crisp endive, all sized perfectly for one bite.

![Endive bite topped with shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-16-xgh18-900.webp)

The soft, mild flavor of the scallops paired with the crunchy texture better than I expected. Topping the endive bite with shrimp was also delicious! I think this dish would go really well with a glass of white wine too!!

## A twist on pasta: perilla oil salted-seafood pasta

![Perilla oil salted-seafood pasta topped with whole perilla seeds](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-17-1j5vv-900.webp)

One of the dishes my friends and I enjoyed the most that day was the perilla oil salted-seafood pasta. Even the name set it apart from a typical pasta — it's made with the umami of salted pollack roe and salted octopus, plus whole perilla seeds for a nutty flavor and texture. At first I wasn't sure salted seafood and pasta would work together, but it turned out to be a great combination.

The subtle umami of the salted seafood came through gently, and the nuttiness of the perilla oil and whole seeds kept me reaching for more!! I went in thinking this was a Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station, but it turns out it's a pasta place too!! Every bite with the whole perilla seeds gave a nutty crunch that made it more fun to eat than a pasta with just plain sauce.

## Nutty and satisfying: abalone mushroom butter hot pot rice

![Abalone and shiitake mushroom butter hot pot rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-18-1td82-900.webp)

I ordered this one because I wanted rice, and the abalone mushroom butter hot pot rice was so good!! Lifting the lid revealed plenty of abalone and shiitake mushrooms in butter, looking both healthy and hearty. One bite in, the nutty richness of the butter paired perfectly with the abalone and shiitake.

I loved the warm, cozy feel that's特有 to hot pot rice, and the subtle aroma of the shiitake mushrooms combined with the clean taste of the abalone gave it that comforting, classic Korean flavor. True to its reputation as a great Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station, the hot pot rice was excellent!!

![Abalone mushroom butter hot pot rice mixed and ready to eat](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-19-bo311-900.webp)

Even with the butter, it never felt too heavy — just enough to add a nutty richness, which made it easy to share among friends.

Having one rice dish on the table made the whole meal feel much more filling. Pairing it with lighter dishes like pasta or buckwheat noodles seemed to round out the meal nicely.

## Cool and spicy: buckwheat noodles with spicy flounder

![Spicy buckwheat noodles topped with raw flounder](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-21-15bud-900.webp)

If the abalone hot pot rice and perilla pasta were nutty and warm, the spicy buckwheat noodles with flounder were a fresher, more appetite-sparking dish.

![Spicy-tangy sauce, buckwheat noodles, and raw flounder](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-22-eapx7-900.webp)

Fresh raw flounder, a spicy-tangy sauce, and buckwheat noodles came together for a dish that cleaned the palate from the very first bite!! The flounder looked so fresh!! Mixing the buckwheat noodles into the spicy-tangy sauce and topping it with the flounder gave a great texture too.

![Table with all four dishes shared among friends](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-23-151m4-900.webp)

That day we ordered four dishes in total — grilled scallop & endive bites, abalone mushroom butter hot pot rice, perilla oil salted-seafood pasta, and spicy buckwheat noodles with flounder — and shared them all happily with friends. Choosing a variety of dishes to share around the table worked out perfectly. Great food, a comfortable atmosphere, a satisfying gathering spot — Moa Gangnam delivered!!

![Restaurant filling up with customers as we finished our meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean/moa-gangnam-friends-lunch-korean-24-ec81c-900.webp)

By the time we finished our meal and were heading out, the restaurant had quickly filled up with people, with even a waitlist forming. If you're planning a special get-together with friends in Gangnam, I recommend Moa Gangnam — a Gangnam Korean restaurant that delivers on both great food and great atmosphere!!
