When you are looking for a good place to eat around Gangnam Station before meeting someone, there are so many spots selling similar menus, right? Today, I visited Sinbok Myeongwan (신복면관), where the dim sum and beef knife-cut noodles are delicious. It is close to Gangnam Station too, making it a great place to arrange a meet-up.

Sinbok Myeongwan has a different appeal from an ordinary Chinese restaurant. Its signature dishes are house-made knife-cut noodles and handmade dim sum, and they are very popular.

It is close to the subway station, so it is easy to pick as a meeting-and-meal spot—and there is also one hour of free parking in the building, so that is convenient, right?

## From solo dining seats to partitioned tables

Sinbok Myeongwan is on B1 of Gangnam Station Central Prugio City. It is such a popular spot that there is always a wait at lunchtime.

When you step inside, there is a solo dining zone set up for guests eating alone.

There are two-person tables in front of the open kitchen, and they can thoughtfully join tables together depending on the party size, which seems to keep the turnover quick.

When you take a bite, you first notice the thin, soft wrapper, then hot juices seep out from inside and fill your mouth with savory flavor. The filling is light, but the juices keep it moist rather than dry, with a lovely texture.
Rather than eating it in one bite like an ordinary dumpling, it is best to gently lift it with chopsticks and eat carefully so you do not break the skin. I was told that the juices inside are hotter than expected, so to let it cool slightly at first—and that is exactly how I ate it.
The dim sum, with its soft skin, moist filling, and rich juices, was so appealing~

The beef knife-cut noodles that many people order at Sinbok Myeongwan are different from ordinary noodles: the knife-cut noodles have broad, thick strands and a satisfyingly chewy bite.

The combination of meat and warm broth feels perfect now that the chilly wind is beginning to blow.

This dish took a little while because of the time needed to fry the eggplant, but this eggplant rice with fish-fragrant sauce had incredibly soft, freshly fried eggplant.
