It's already well known as a Namyangju favorite, especially for its tomato-jang pork belly. They just launched a new tomato-jang kalguksu (noodle soup) too, so I rushed over to try it haha. It's also a great drive-out spot from Seoul, and perfect for eating with parents or family while looking at the creek. Aren't those yellow parasols so cute? You really have to go right now while it's like this. The weather's great and the creek is right there, so just sitting there feels healing. You guys… I was surprised the side dishes alone were this good. Then the tomato-jang pork belly arrived..!! The visuals alone were insane. That gives it a smoky char flavor, and since they cook it all for you, you get to enjoy it without any burnt bits — I loved that. At first I was really curious what 'tomato-jang' would even taste like, but the spice level is adjustable, and the savory depth of the tomato-jang combined with a spicy kick actually went surprisingly well with the pork belly! It really paired well — worth the trip out to Namyangju for. Now I get why it's famous for tomato-jang pork belly haha. And my favorite combo was ssammu (pickled radish wrap) + perilla leaf salad + pork belly!! Eating it like that, I felt like I could keep going for three servings.. ♥️ ## How is the new tomato-jang kalguksu? And then the tomato-jang kalguksu (noodle soup) I was really looking forward to arrived! They apparently make the tomato-jang from scratch and hand-knead the noodles themselves! Maybe that's why the noodles were so chewy and paired perfectly with the broth. I was already stuffed from the pork belly, but somehow I kept eating haha. I ended up mixing rice into the broth too — how can this combination work so well?! The tomato-jang pork belly was delicious, but personally the tomato-jang kalguksu is what stuck with me the most! My friends said even the fried rice was amazing and cleaned the whole pan haha. Cooking it in a cauldron naturally creates a scorched rice crust, so we got a crispy finish till the very last bite! I felt like I could burst, but eating the fried rice made the meal feel properly complete haha. Final verdict 🙋🏻‍♀️ Overall — the tomato-jang pork belly with perilla leaf is a solid combo, and the tomato-jang kalguksu is a strong recommend! If you want to eat great BBQ in Namyangju while properly enjoying a creek view, this outdoor Namyangju spot is worth a visit haha. Eating outside on a nice day felt like getting good food, fresh air, and a proper reset all at once! In particular, the tomato-jang kalguksu I tried for the first time this visit was way better than expected, and I think I'll order it again next time haha.
