## In short

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch is a large roastery café in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi. I tried the 7,500 won Ethiopia Momora Natural G1 hand drip and a 6,500 won café latte, then explored its different floors and fifth-floor rooftop. Verdict: a satisfying pick for choosing coffee, seats, and a hanok-roof view.

While out in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, I stopped by Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters. I’d heard about it a lot because it’s famous, and people said the coffee was good since they roast it themselves!

It’s a large café that takes up an entire building, with a rooftop too, and it was fun to look around because every floor had a completely different feel.

## How are the floors used?

There’s a floor guide at the entrance: the basement level is for ordering, the first floor is the roasting room, the second and fourth floors have seating, the third floor is a coffee academy, and the fifth floor is the rooftop. It’s also a no-kids zone, so keep that in mind before visiting.

They run a coffee academy on the third floor too!

## Indoor seating to choose by conversation, rest, or view

The second floor was almost full, so I couldn’t take photos, but it had a great atmosphere for chatting! The fourth floor, on the other hand, felt quieter and cozier.

### Fifth-floor rooftop

The rooftop had such a great view, with Haenggung-dong’s hanok (traditional Korean house) roofs spread out right before you.

## Hand-drip beans and dessert menu

For an Americano, you can choose dark, medium, or decaf, and latte drinks can be switched to oat milk. The menu also said pregnant customers can change to decaf for free.

For hand drip, you can choose Guatemala Antigua Pastoral for ₩7,000, Ethiopia Momora Natural G1 for ₩7,500, or Colombia El Paraíso Double Anaerobic Lychee Peach for ₩8,500. Cards with graphs for acidity, sweetness, and body were set out for each bean, which made choosing easy.

There was also a wide variety of desserts, including cookies, rusk, cakes, scones, and fig cake.

They also sold instant coffee and drip-bag coffee. The drip bags in particular had pretty packaging featuring Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, so I think they would make nice gifts.

There was a range of merchandise too, so it was fun to browse while waiting for my order.

## How the Ethiopia hand drip and café latte tasted

![Ethiopia hand-drip coffee and café latte](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-haenggungdong-handdrip-rooftop-cafe/suwon-haenggungdong-handdrip-rooftop-cafe-18-1v3nu-966.webp)

I ordered the Ethiopia Momora Natural G1 hand drip (₩7,500) and a café latte (₩6,500).

![The ordered Ethiopia Momora hand drip](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-haenggungdong-handdrip-rooftop-cafe/suwon-haenggungdong-handdrip-rooftop-cafe-19-16ee5-966.webp)

The description for Ethiopia Momora said it had notes of honey, apricot, and peach, with gentle acidity and a creamy body.

The acidity in the Ethiopia hand drip was seriously delicious. It had such a clear fruity flavor and lovely aroma that even I, someone who doesn’t usually like acidic coffee, enjoyed it. It wasn’t overly strong or bitter before the ice melted, and even after it had all melted, it didn’t become watery—it stayed delicious to the end.

The café latte was smooth. It was a different kind of smoothness from an aged-milk latte: not super rich, but not weak either. It started soft and finished with a deeper flavor, so it had two appealing sides.

## Overall

As you’d expect from a café famous for coffee in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, the coffee was definitely very satisfying. If you love hand drip especially, I think you’ll have fun choosing among the beans!

I also liked that each floor had a different atmosphere: choose the second floor if you want to chat, the fourth if you want quiet time, or the fifth-floor rooftop if you want a view.
