## In short

Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch is a Thai restaurant on the 2nd floor of the NS Building in Naseong-dong, Sejong. Craving pad thai, the writer ordered seafood fried rice alongside it, and both dishes arrived piled with peanut powder for a nutty flavour that paired even better with a little of the chili sauce on the table. Ordering at Mekong Thai is done by QR code and the food comes out quickly, making it an easy pick for family meals or groups sharing several dishes.

## What the Mekong Thai dining room is like

Walking in, I saw quite a few families visiting. Many tables had parents eating with their kids.

The menu is varied, with pho, fried rice, pad thai and other dishes that don't tend to split opinions much, which is probably why so many families come here for a meal out.

The place is clean and comfortable overall, so it was easy to relax and eat.

There's also a separate room-like space, which looked good for families or groups.

## Ordering by QR code at the table

At Mekong Thai you order using the QR code on the table. Scan it with your phone and a screen pops up where you can order right away.

It was convenient to browse the menu directly and order straight from my phone.

## What we ordered: pad thai and seafood fried rice

After a long think, I ended up ordering pad thai and seafood fried rice that day. Both are dishes I love, so this time I went for these instead of pho.

After ordering, the basic side dishes — pickled onion and pickled radish — came out first.

Jasmine tea was served too. While I set up my utensils and looked around, the food came out faster than I expected.

### Seafood fried rice at Mekong Thai

The first dish to arrive was the seafood fried rice, with a big spatula stuck in it for serving.

The fried rice was nicely fluffy and topped with a generous amount of peanut powder — it looked nutty just from the visual.

I scooped a bit onto my plate and tasted it — it was appropriately salty with the distinct savory flavor of seafood. The fried rice itself wasn't too heavily seasoned, so it was easy to eat plain too.

I added a little of the chili sauce that comes on every table. With a touch of spiciness added, it went really well with the fried rice. The nutty peanut powder, the savory umami of the seafood, and the kick of the chili sauce together made it even more delicious.

Personally, adding a bit of chili sauce suited my taste better than eating it plain.

### Pad thai with peanut powder and chili sauce

And then the pad thai I'd been waiting for. Like the fried rice, it was piled high with bean sprouts and peanut powder.

It felt like noodles replacing rice, so with the two dishes side by side, they even looked visually similar.

I mixed it well, then scooped some onto my small plate to eat.

The pad thai had egg, mushroom, bean sprouts, meat and other ingredients mixed in — chewing through several different ingredients instead of just noodles made for a nice variety of textures.

The pad thai's characteristic sweet-savory flavor paired with the crunchy bean sprouts came together more harmoniously than I expected.

I added a bit of chili sauce here too, and again, the added spiciness gave it a different feel. I found it best to add just a little rather than going heavy on the spice. With the nuttiness of the peanut powder too, the overall flavor wasn't too intense and blended well with the other ingredients. Since I'd come specifically craving pad thai, I left this visit pretty satisfied haha.

## Is Mekong Thai in Naseong-dong, Sejong worth a visit?

![Vertical photo of the Mekong Thai table after the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/mekong-thai-sejong-naseong-pad-thai/mekong-thai-sejong-naseong-pad-thai-20-gtax2-900.webp)

This time I visited Mekong Thai in Naseong-dong craving pad thai. The place was clean and comfortable, and ordering via QR code was easy and convenient.

![Final shot of the pad thai and seafood fried rice pairing](https://img.superchart.com/images/mekong-thai-sejong-naseong-pad-thai/mekong-thai-sejong-naseong-pad-thai-21-10b4k-900.webp)

Most of all, the food didn't take long to come out, so even though I arrived hungry, I didn't have to wait long. The pad thai and seafood fried rice each had their own charm, and it was great ordering both to share. If you're visiting with a group, it might be nice to order a variety — pho, fried rice, pad thai — and share them all.

Since I had pad thai and fried rice this time, I was a little sad I didn't get to try the pho. So next time, I'm planning to come back just for the pho!!! For whenever you want Thai food like pad thai or pho in Sejong.

For anyone wanting a comfortable meal out with family or a relaxed hangout with friends in a clean space, I'd recommend Mekong Thai in Naseong-dong.
