The side dishes were all neat and delicious too — combinations that really brought out the eel's flavor. The chawanmushi (savory egg custard) in particular was smooth and gentle on the stomach, a great way to start.

Manmok apparently only uses Gochang freshwater eel, considered one of Korea's best sources. Since it's thoroughly managed from origin to selection, I barely noticed any fishy smell.

The cooking method is worth noting too — they grill the eel once, steam it, then brush on sauce and grill it twice more over charcoal, the Kanto-style method. This process apparently reduces the greasiness while keeping the texture tender.

I ordered one whole grilled eel with the hanwoo nabe set, and since it's a set menu it came to ₩113,000.

The hanwoo (Korean beef) in the nabe looked vivid and fresh like tataki, so I was excited even before it went into the pot.

The broth was deep and rich, keeping the meat's flavor fully alive, and there was a generous amount of vegetables too, so it was filling enough even for two.

What impressed me about the eel was that, maybe because of the light, clean quality of Kanto-style cooking, my stomach didn't feel heavy at all even after finishing everything.

Finally, they gave us ice cream for dessert — that kind of thoughtfulness right through to the end of the meal really stood out. It left me feeling good all the way through.

## Manmok location, parking and reservations near Seonleung Station

There's parking for about 2 cars in front of the store, but the space is tight so spots may not be available — I'd recommend calling ahead to check before visiting.
