My friend and I were trying to figure out what to eat for dinner in Gangnam when we found Damiseon, a Gangnam Station sashimi restaurant with great value set menus, so we booked through Naver and went to check it out! Having a spacious restaurant and Naver reservation available is really convenient.

Damiseon is located just off the alley right in front of Gangnam Station Exit 5, so access from the station is really good. There's no separate parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot. But since it's right in front of the exit, it's genuinely convenient .. !

We went a bit early so I could comfortably take photos of the interior. First off, there are a LOT of seats and the place is spacious! It'd be great for a Gangnam Station work dinner or group gathering spot. In fact, a lot of groups around parent-and-grandparent age were coming in.

Steamed egg and clam soup included in the set. I'm exactly the type who loves the sashimi-restaurant sukidashi (small side dishes) experience. Having such a variety of side dishes included in the set is so great! The clam soup had plump hard clams and tons of scallions, with a refreshing, mild flavor.

The main event, the sashimi platter, came out right away. The sashimi came in three types: red seabream, olive flounder, and seasonal sashimi. The perfect combo for anyone who only eats live fish sashimi! Each slice wasn't too thin and was nicely sized, so it was satisfying to eat without feeling stingy haha,ha.

Sea squirt, conch, abalone, octopus, and marinated shrimp all came out too — such a wide variety of seafood that it was great to pick and choose. The sashimi was chewy and delicious, and the conch and abalone weren't tough at all, just chewy and savory.

Grilled saury came out while we were eating. Nice and salty, good to snack on in between bites ,,

The maki (sushi roll) was an unexpectedly great surprise! Last time I had maki somewhere else, I got the full fishy taste of the flying fish roe done wrong, but Damiseon's maki had zero fishy taste, the seaweed was crispy, and the rice was seasoned just right, so I really enjoyed it. Getting some carbs in after eating so much sashimi hit the spot lol.

The fried shrimp was good enough that I'd want to order it as a standalone dish 🦐. Incomparably crispy-yet-moist compared to frozen versions, and the shrimp itself was tender and delicious haha. They give you two per person, so the portion felt generous too 🎶

### Finishing with Damiseon's spicy fish stew and its sancho pepper aroma

By the time we'd nearly finished the sashimi, the spicy fish stew came out last. Damiseon's spicy fish stew is really well made ... I personally dislike stews with artificial spiciness or overly aggressive flavors added, but Damiseon's stew was truly the textbook example of what a real spicy fish stew should be. That subtle sancho-pepper aroma unique to the dish plus a good hearty spiciness — excellent. It was loaded generously with fish and roe. If I weren't watching my diet, I would've ordered a bowl of rice immediately ,, ;

## Is Damiseon a good spot for a group dinner near Gangnam Station?

A set that paired cleanly with cheongju (rice wine)!
