## In short

Munhwa Bakery is a small takeout-focused bakery in the alley at the entrance to Seosullo-gil, near Jongno 3-ga Station in Seoul. On a Jongno date, the writer and her husband bought Munhwa Bakery's signature coffee bread and one cream bread and finished both on the street before they even reached Seosullo-gil, and the coffee cream was not too sweet, pairing well with an iced americano. For anyone who dislikes very sweet bread, Munhwa Bakery's coffee bread is a safe choice.

## Where is Munhwa Bakery on Seosullo-gil?

Munhwa Bakery is the go-to bread spot on Seosullo-gil, located at 65 Donhwamun-ro, 1st floor, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It's open daily from 11:00 to 20:00, and the standout feature is the coffee bread — the taste is addictive, and I really recommend it!

*Signature - coffee bread!!!!!!*

Hi haha! Today my husband and I went on a Jongno date to Seosullo-gil~!

The weather was so nice I couldn't just sit at home haha. This is our beloved Jongno date spot in Jung-gu! We'd already been to Seochon so many times, so this time we wanted to feel the Seosullo-gil vibe, so we got off at Jongno 3-ga Station and headed over~

Before properly entering Seosullo-gil, we stopped by "Munhwa Bakery," the famous bread spot right at the entrance alley :) I recommend it to anyone who likes bread that's not too sweet but still addictive! (By the way, this was my second visit haha)

### How small is the shop, and is there a queue?

Munhwa Bakery isn't very big, so only about 1–2 parties can go in at a time, and you really just buy your bread and leave..! The shop is cramped, but the line was pretty long! (I guess that just means it's that good~)

At the entrance there's a big sign that says "bread" so it's easy to spot haha.

## Munhwa Bakery bread menu and prices

There were 3–4 parties ahead of us so we waited a bit, and once they cleared out my husband and I went in to browse the bread haha.

For those of us with old-school "halmae" (grandma-style) taste buds, these are the breads that'll drive you crazy

- Injeolmi bread (rice cake–flavored) - ₩3,800
- Peanut bread - ₩3,800
- Mugwort rice cake bread - ₩5,700

There's a bread that features rice cake-flavored ingredients like peanut, injeolmi (soybean powder rice cake), and mugwort rice cake as the star!

From here on it's a bit more familiar territory haha

- Black sesame bread - ₩2,900
- Milk cream bread - ₩3,500
- Cheese bread - ₩5,400
- Squid ink condensed milk bread - ₩4,500

If you like cream, I highly recommend the milk cream or squid ink condensed milk haha

There was only one type of bagel! (That must mean they're that confident in it) Just the onion bagel - priced at ₩6,000!

![Munhwa Bakery's onion bagel, the only bagel type available](https://img.superchart.com/images/munhwa-bakery-seosullagil-coffee-bread/munhwa-bakery-seosullagil-coffee-bread-06-1izyd-900.webp)

- Rice chestnut loaf - ₩5,800
- Rice cheese loaf - ₩5,900
- Maple cream cheese bread - ₩4,900
- Sweet potato bread - ₩3,800
- White bean paste bread - ₩3,800
- Walnut bread - ₩3,500

They also had loaves of bread that looked so fluffy I briefly had the happy dilemma of wondering whether to slice it up and make a sandwich haha~ I guess I really do have old-school taste, because the sweet potato bread and walnut bread caught my eye.

The garlic bread I'd had on my previous visit too! - ₩6,800. This one really has a super saturated sauce, so even before you take a bite, you can tell from pulling off one piece that it's completely soaked through haha.

We ended up buying the signature coffee bread and a cream bread, two pieces total haha.

## Coffee bread and cream bread eaten on the street

Successfully purchased the coffee bread and cream bread, two pieces :)

Let's leave a proof shot~

We tried all three, and my husband's and my top pick was, without a doubt, this coffee bread!!! They cut it in half like this, and the coffee cream inside isn't overdone, while the outside is soft — it went really well with iced americano~

We couldn't hold out before even entering Seosullo-gil and ended up taking a bite of bread right there on the street(?). If you love coffee like I do and aren't into overly strong sweetness like fruit cream or syrup, this coffee bread will never let you down~ In the end, we couldn't stop and finished it right where we stood haha.

If you go to Munhwa Bakery, you have to try this signature coffee bread at least once~!

## Is Munhwa Bakery good for a Seosullo-gil date walk?

Pick up a bread at Munhwa Bakery, grab a takeout coffee, then walk around Seosullo-gil to help it digest, and check out nearby Jongmyo Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site — I really, really recommend this course~!

- Munhwa Bakery
- Seosullo-gil
- Jongmyo Shrine walk

And that's my honest review of "Munhwa Bakery," the bread spot I recommend visiting as part of a Seosullo-gil date course. The end!
