## In short

Pork80 Jeju Airport Branch is a charcoal-grilled black pork restaurant on Noyeon-ro in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City. On a weekend visit at 5pm, one 600g plate of Nanchuk Matdon black pork was grilled at the table by staff, and switching between matcha salt, wasabi and meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) made the same cut taste different with every bite. A wait had formed by the end of the meal, so booking Pork80 through Naver Reservation before you go is the safer plan.

## Arriving at 5pm on a weekend: how long is the wait?

We visited Pork80 Jeju Airport Branch around 5pm on a weekend, and at first I thought there'd be plenty of room? But as time went on, customers kept coming in and the place filled up fast!!! Wow~ By the time we finished eating and were leaving, there was already a waitlist lol. If you're planning to visit, I really recommend booking ahead through Naver Reservation~

This black pork restaurant near Jeju Airport was clean and had more space than I expected~! Haha. There were groups of friends, couples, and families too, so it felt like a comfortable place to eat no matter who you came with. On one side you could see a fridge where the meat ages, and looking at the menu, there was a wide variety of drinks too, so I thought Pork80 would be a great place for a drink or two haha.

Of course we started with draft beer, and since we were in Jeju, Hallasan soju was a must too~! We ordered one plate of Nanchuk Matdon, 600g.

As you'd expect from a black pork restaurant near Jeju Airport, the side dishes came out in an amazing variety~ Starting with fresh kimchi and scallion salad, there was also soy-marinated crab, onion soy sauce, perilla leaves, chili, garlic, ssamjang, wasabi, matcha salt, radish salad, and corn salad~!!! There were so many combinations to pair with just one type of meat, so it was fun picking based on your taste.

Soy-marinated crab as a basic side dish...? And not cut into small pieces — full mouth-filling size!!! Haha, I almost ordered an extra bowl of rice~ The meljeot braise came out boiling hot too! I was already looking forward to dipping the black pork in it~

Pork80 says it uses top-grade bicheotan (white charcoal), and looking at the actual coals, they really looked good! The fire came up quite steadily, and as the meat grilled, a subtle charcoal aroma rose up, giving that proper Jeju black pork feeling~

The visuals of this Jeju black pork were insane~ Wow...? Just look at that fine color? The thick-cut meat passed the visual test right away, and it came with green onion and king oyster mushrooms to grill alongside it haha.

## Staff grill the Nanchuk Matdon black pork at your table

When you order Nanchuk Matdon at Pork80 Jeju Airport Branch, a staff member grills the meat for you, so all we had to do was enjoy it comfortably~!!! Grilling meat is honestly the most bothersome and nerve-wracking part, but since a skilled staff member handled it from start to finish, we got to chat comfortably while the meat cooked haha. Maybe this is one reason why so many families visit this black pork restaurant near Jeju Airport~?

![Staff member grilling the Nanchuk Matdon](https://img.superchart.com/images/pork80-jeju-airport-weekend-heukdwaeji/pork80-jeju-airport-weekend-heukdwaeji-20-rhk6o-900.webp)

I took a photo of the staff member grilling it too — having someone grill it for you directly was really so convenient~!

### First bite of black pork with matcha salt

Finally, the first bite! They placed a perfectly grilled piece right on our plate~ For the first bite, I dipped it in matcha salt. The outside was browned nicely over the charcoal with a subtle smoky aroma rising off it, and biting in, the juices felt moist!!! Since the meat was thick, the savory flavor built up the more I chewed, and the good meaty aroma of black pork came through clearly. The matcha salt was salty in a way that brought out the flavor of the meat itself, making it perfect for the first bite haha.

### Wasabi, then meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce)

Next I tried it with a bit of wasabi on top, and this was totally my style too~~~ Haha. The heaviness of the meat combined with the sharp kick of wasabi cleaned up the palate, making me want to eat the next piece right away.

The combination I found most delicious was meljeot! Dipping into the piping hot meljeot brought out a salty, deep savoriness~ The savory meat of this black pork restaurant near Jeju Airport paired so well with the salty umami of the meljeot~ Rotating between matcha salt → wasabi → meljeot, the same meat kept tasting different, so there was never a chance to get tired of it~~~

![Black pork wrapped with perilla leaf and scallion salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/pork80-jeju-airport-weekend-heukdwaeji/pork80-jeju-airport-weekend-heukdwaeji-22-ktw9h-900.webp)

We also wrapped it in perilla leaves, topped it with garlic or chili, and ate it with the scallion salad~! With such a variety of side dishes, it was fun changing the combination piece by piece. The staff grilled all the meat to a good state overall, but if you want, you can grill some pieces a bit more yourself afterward according to your taste, which was nice~ I like mine a little more well-done, so I put a few pieces back on the grill myself haha.

## Verdict: 600g of Nanchuk Matdon was plenty for two

![Pork80 table after finishing the 600g Nanchuk Matdon](https://img.superchart.com/images/pork80-jeju-airport-weekend-heukdwaeji/pork80-jeju-airport-weekend-heukdwaeji-23-1bejm-900.webp)

![Interior of Pork80 Jeju Airport Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/pork80-jeju-airport-weekend-heukdwaeji/pork80-jeju-airport-weekend-heukdwaeji-24-jud89-900.webp)

600g of Nanchuk Matdon turned out to be more than expected for two people~ Unfortunately we couldn't even touch the side dishes, but looking at what other tables were eating, those side dishes looked so delicious too haha. This time we were full just from the meat alone and couldn't try them, but next time I'll definitely have to try the sides too...

The restroom was also kept clean inside the restaurant. At a barbecue place, your clothes or hands tend to smell afterward, which can be a bit annoying, but there was even mouthwash prepared in the restroom! It was well kept clean, and I thought it was a nice touch to be able to rinse with mouthwash before leaving after the meal haha.

If you want proper charcoal-grilled black pork in Jeju, or you're looking for a black pork restaurant near Jeju Airport, Pork80 seems worth a visit :) I've already marked it down as a place I want to visit again on my next trip to Jeju!
