That's basically a guarantee the food's good, right?? My friends had never had mackerel ssam-bap before, so I wanted to bring them somewhere reliable — and it was the best choice ever. ## Outside Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap and its 3,500-pyeong garden Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap sits on Iljuseo-ro in Seogwipo, and the garden is as famous as the restaurant itself. Following the navigation in, I actually said out loud, 'Wait, is this really it???' A rose garden greets you from the entrance like some kind of palace!! It's said to span a full 3,500 pyeong. We joked, 'No way, did we just eat what they grew themselves??' — and sure enough, looking back at the photos, the sign over the ssam vegetables read 'vegetables grown directly on our farm.' The tables weren't crammed together, so it stayed calm and comfortable rather than chaotic. Some pieces were bigger, some smaller, but the flesh itself was thick and meaty throughout, so every bite was delicious. But wait, what is this??? I assumed 'set' just meant a few slices of abalone thrown in... why is there so much abalone??? Beyond the abalone, the rice was rounded out with sweet pumpkin, hijiki seaweed, and beans — a nice touch. You all know the hot stone rice trick, right??? Scoop it out into your side plate, pour hot water into the pot, and later enjoy it as sungnyung (scorched rice tea). If that's not enough, there's a self-serve bar right next to you! Beyond those basic side dishes, there's an incredible range of pickled vegetables, radish salad, eggplant, garlic, mushrooms, lotus root, onion, chili, seasoned soybeans, dried anchovies, macaroni salad, and more — a whopping 16 dishes in total!! Just tasting one bite of each felt like it could add up to two extra bowls of rice 🤤 Next to the banchan bar, fitting for a ssam-bap restaurant, there's also a self-serve wrap-vegetable bar. All you need to do is download the coupon, so everyone should take advantage!!
