Traveling around eastern Jeju today, I was trying to decide what to eat for lunch when gogi guksu (pork noodle soup) came to mind! It's located near Eco Land and Saryeoni Forest Path, so it's a great stop during an eastern Jeju trip. I visited 'Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch' (면주막 제주본점) in Jocheon, Jeju✨

Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch has a large parking lot right in front, so I could visit without any parking worries!

The interior was also quite spacious, with more than 100 seats — good for families or group visits.

Everything was managed neatly overall, which made me feel a bit more at ease even before eating. And there were so many amenities for families visiting with kids!

There were a lot of thoughtful items to make it convenient for visits with kids.

They had this much care put in! (Item #10 was apparently still being prepared, haha)

And every table had pepper, red pepper powder, salt, and dried seaweed flakes ready, so you could season to taste

And extra side dishes were available at a self-serve bar, so you could freely take as much as you'd like.

## Myeonjumak's menu and the free baby noodles

Myeonjumak had a wide variety of dishes prepared, including pork noodle soup with Jeju black pork, anchovy noodles, bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles), pork gukbap, and dombe pork (boiled pork slices)! In particular, there was a separate baby noodle dish, free for children up to 36 months, which seemed really great for families traveling in Jeju with kids. Noodle dishes are +₩1,000 for a double portion!

## When is dombe pork ready? Check the 9am and noon times

And here's a really important piece of info⚠️ Dombe pork is boiled fresh at 9:00am and 12:00pm. We reserved and visited at 1:30pm intending to eat it for lunch, but by then the dombe pork was already all sold out, so any menu item involving dombe pork wasn't available to order...💦

(We had visited specifically to eat gogi guksu, so it was really disappointing ㅠㅠ) The dombe pork seems to sell out faster than you'd expect, so if you want gogi guksu or dombe pork, I really recommend checking the boiling times before you visit!

### Side dishes and radish tea at Myeonjumak

The basic side dishes were kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and napa cabbage kimchi. You know a good restaurant when the kimchi is delicious, right? hahaha The kimchi here was delicious on both counts!

And instead of plain water, they served Jeju radish tea, which is supposedly good for you. I liked that they cared about health even down to these small details.

### Pork gukbap made with red yeast rice, 10,000 won

I originally wanted gogi guksu, but since the dombe pork had sold out, I settled for pork gukbap instead! And honestly, it was way more delicious than expected, so I actually ended up satisfied hahahahaha

The rice was pink — apparently made with red yeast rice, which is good for blood vessels and digestion. Even the rice showed thought toward health, haha. The broth was on the salty side, but with a savory depth and a hint of meat fat, which added a nice richness.

And most of all, the amount of meat was really generous. I was disappointed not to have gogi guksu, but the pork gukbap turned out so tasty that it was a filling meal on its own.

### Abalone porridge, 15,000 won: an enormous portion

What is up with this abalone porridge portion...? (How does anyone finish this alone 😂)

One serving felt like 2-3 servings — it's magic how it never seems to shrink no matter how much you eat 🪄 hahahahahaha. There was a generous amount of finely chopped abalone, and the flavor was savory, clean, and slightly salty.

The abalone flavor came through nicely without being too fishy or overwhelming. The portion is so big it'd be great to share among several people!

The mul-mandu ordered as a side dish also had a surprisingly large portion, hahaha. I thought of it lightly as just a side, but... dipped in soy sauce, the savory dumplings paired well alongside the gukbap or porridge, and being easy to scoop up spoon by spoon, I kept reaching for more. Perfect to order as a side alongside a main dish.

Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch was a good spot for a filling meal during an eastern Jeju trip✨ I'd originally visited to eat gogi guksu, so it was a bit disappointing that the dombe pork had sold out and I couldn't🥲 Still, from the pork gukbap to the abalone porridge to the dumplings, everything was generous in portion and decent in taste, so I left feeling satisfied.

In particular, the amenities for kids were well set up, and the restaurant was spacious and clean, making it seem great for families or group visits. The location is also close to Eco Land, so it's a good stop midway through a trip for anyone looking for restaurants near Eco Land or Saryeoni Forest Path.
