Today I want to share my visit to Sintongyeong Gyeongseongdae Branch in Daeyeon-dong, Busan.

There are so many good restaurants around Gyeongseongdae/Pukyong National University Station. I was craving sashimi and seafood, so while looking for a raw fish restaurant in Daeyeon-dong, I found Sintongyeong Gyeongseongdae Branch. Since I wanted seafood along with sashimi rather than just sashimi alone, I ordered the mixed sashimi and seafood set this time.

I first checked out the exterior when I arrived.

There was a fish tank near the entrance, giving off that classic sashimi restaurant vibe.

Inside, there were several tables and the whole place had a comfortable feel.

It seemed like a fine spot for a family meal, and also comfortable enough for a gathering or get-together with friends.

We took our seats and looked over the menu first.

## The 60,000 won mixed sashimi and seafood set: what's on the menu

Looking at the menu at Sintongyeong Gyeongseongdae Branch, there was a wide variety of options — mixed sashimi, seafood, and seasonal dishes. You could order sashimi alone, but there were also sets that let you enjoy seafood alongside it, so we thought for a moment about what to order. Since we wanted to try a bit of everything, we ordered the mixed sashimi and seafood set (60,000 won).

You get sashimi, seafood, and finally spicy fish stew at the end, so for us — people who like variety — it was a solid choice.

Whenever I go to a sashimi restaurant, part of the fun is trying the side dishes one by one before the sashimi arrives.

This time was no different — we sampled a little of everything.

There were familiar dishes like corn cheese and chive pancake, along with sides like braised whelk and braised flounder that paired nicely with the sashimi.

## The mixed sashimi and seafood set arrives

And then the mixed sashimi and seafood set we'd been waiting for showed up.

With sashimi and seafood served together, it looked really appetizing.

What I liked about this set was that it wasn't just sashimi — we got to enjoy a variety of seafood too.

Rather than eating one thing over and over, we could have a bite of sashimi, then some seafood, then back to sashimi — lots of variety.

### Tasting the sashimi first

Naturally, the sashimi was the first thing I reached for.

It was neatly sliced, and one bite gave a nice chewy texture.

I first dipped it in soy sauce, then tried it with the vinegared gochujang sauce.

Enjoying the sashimi's clean flavor on its own, then adding the sauces, gave it a different feel each time. Sashimi really does taste a bit different depending on how you eat it.

## Live shrimp still moving: the seafood half of the set

What stood out most this time was the seafood that came with the sashimi.

The shrimp in particular really surprised me.

The shrimp on the seafood plate were actually alive and moving.

At first I just thought of it as one of the seafood items, but seeing it actually move made me think, 'Wow, this is really fresh.'

Seeing it in person right in front of me was even more impressive than seeing it in a photo.

Since the shrimp were still alive, you could feel the freshness even before eating them, and it was great being able to try a little bit of various seafood alongside the sashimi.

Having a bite of sashimi, then some seafood, then sashimi again felt so much more varied than sticking to one dish the whole time.

Seeing the live shrimp in person was one of the most memorable parts of this mixed sashimi and seafood set. Being able to enjoy fresh seafood along with the sashimi was a great part of this visit.

## Finishing the meal with spicy fish stew

After eating a good amount of sashimi, we finished with spicy fish stew.

Setting the pot to simmer and boil, the hot broth really hit the spot after all that sashimi.

It had fish, tofu, and vegetables in it, making it easy to scoop up along with the broth.

I was already quite full, but eating the stew broth got me thinking about rice a little. :) After sashimi, seafood, and finally the spicy stew, it felt like a properly complete meal.

### The complimentary mixed fritters

While we were eating the sashimi and seafood, they also brought out complimentary mixed fritters.

They came out warm, which was nice for finishing off the meal one piece at a time. :)
