## In short

Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk is a pork bone soup and gamjatang (potato and pork bone stew) restaurant on Seonyu-dong 1-ro, near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station in Seoul. On a hungover Sunday at 4pm, two friends ordered one mild and one spicy bone soup plus an egg roll for ₩30,000, and the ₩9,000 pot was stacked so full of big bones that the rice went unfinished. Of the many soup restaurants along the main road by Yeongdeungpo-gu Office, Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk came out on top.

There are plenty of other soup restaurants along the main road near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office, you know? But of all the places I've been, this one was seriously the best.

## A hungover Sunday visit to Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk

Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk (당산뼈다귀해장국) is a pork bone soup restaurant on Seonyu-dong 1-ro near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station, and I went there with a friend on a Sunday at 4pm the day after drinking. Sunday. I was bored, and my friend texted me like "hey I'm near your place, wanna see each other for a bit?" so I went out. Bored anyway, so good timing. And we were both still in a hungover state from the night before, lol."

We went out for hangover coffee but ended up kind of awkwardly hungry, so we decided to go get haejangguk (hangover soup) instead.

## Inside Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk: how far apart are the tables?

![Exterior of Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-02-2k6p6-900.webp)

The exterior is just your typical haejangguk restaurant look. We went around 4pm — one table was already deep into day drinking, haha. Overall the place felt clean and homey. The tables were big with enough space between them that my friend and I could chat comfortably while eating.

![Table setting before ordering](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-04-fch6h-900.webp)

I was hungry enough to go for the special size, but then I spotted the egg roll on the menu — ah, couldn't resist, let's do it.

![Table set up with aprons ready](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-05-ub7oo-900.webp)

We ordered two pork bone soups, one regular and one spicy, plus the egg roll. They even had aprons on hand. And the menu had so many other options too — dumplings, pancakes, steamed egg, egg rolls, sliced boiled pork.

I wanted to try everything but my stomach has limits, so, next time. Oh, and if you get it to go, they upgrade you to the special size!!!!! Ohhhh so nice. They also give extra rice if you need it — such a homey, generous kind of place, where do you even find restaurants like this anymore.

And!!!! They make their own kimchi, which made me so happy!!!!! Look at that color — that's grandma-made color right there. The kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) is insanely good.

## Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk menu and prices

The menu at Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk: pork bone soup ₩9,000, special pork bone soup ₩12,000, gamjatang (small) ₩27,000, stir-fried squid ₩18,000, squid and chive pancake ₩15,000, egg roll ₩12,000, steamed egg ₩8,000.

(Haha, while I was deciding between the steamed egg and the egg roll, I saw on another blog review that someone actually asked the owner how many eggs go into it!!!?? Haha, I get it, I was curious too. Apparently it's 7 eggs. That's a lot!)

![Two kinds of side kimchi and meat dipping sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-09-1m3ma-m-900.webp)

What we ordered: two pork bone soups, one regular and one spicy, plus the egg roll, ₩30,000. (After finishing the pork bone soups, it was genuinely surprising they didn't charge ₩10,000 more for that — there was so much meat in it too.)

Basic side dishes: two kinds of kimchi plus a meat dipping sauce.

## Mild or spicy pork bone soup: which should you order?

![Regular and spicy pork bone soup bowls side by side](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-10-beupm-900.webp)

The regular pork bone soup and my friend's spicy one arrived. What can I say, let's just dig in already, haha.

### The ₩9,000 mild pork bone soup

![Regular pork bone soup stone pot with a bowl of rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-11-129vs-900.webp)

I ordered the regular version thinking I might find spicy too salty, and it was exactly that red-broth gamjatang flavor we all know!!!! And the rice was perfectly firm too.

![A spoonful of pork bone soup meat over rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-12-19f4u-m-900.webp)

It was just right. And the spicy version wasn't overly salty either — it just had a light kick of spiciness added on top????? The spicy one was tasty too!! If you like spicy food, go for the spicy version.

![Ugeoji lifted out of the pork bone soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-13-1urys-900.webp)

There's a ton of ugeoji (napa cabbage stem, dried and stewed) too. I really love the well-braised ugeoji you get in pork bone soup, you know? Not the kind that turns to mush!!! Here it had just the right texture, perfect on top of rice.

Ah, seriously, it's delicious. My friend and I kept saying wow this is good, this is good, haha. And look at the amount of meat, seriously.

![Amount of meat in the stone pot of pork bone soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-14-p82yk-900.webp)

## How much meat is in the pot, and how is the broth?

Honestly, since it's a single-serving haejangguk and not gamjatang, a lot of places skimp on what actually goes in that stone pot. Go to a crowded spot in Myeongdong or Hongdae and you might get like two bone chunks?

But here, huge bones packed in, stacked one after another;;;; genuinely startled by how much there was, hahahaha. So~~~~~~~ good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

![Large bones stacked densely in the stone pot](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-15-kbegy-900.webp)

Also, I currently have a jaw issue so I went in prepared not to be able to eat if the meat was tough (basically braced for rice-and-broth-only eating,,,), but the meat was completely tender, it just fell right off the bone.

And you can just tell by looking at the broth once it's ladled up, right? Whether it's genuinely simmered from natural ingredients or unhealthily murky. This one was pale and milky, that real long-simmered look! Not the slightest bit heavy, and honestly it's been a while since I've come across a place like this.

![Milky, well-simmered pork bone soup broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-16-q0vsd-900.webp)

![Tender meat pulled off the bone](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-17-qaya6-900.webp)

At some point I figured there couldn't be any more meat left, haha, but then I stirred up the ugeoji and more meat showed up, so I took a photo, hahahahahahaha. The meat is so good 🤭💛

If you love meat, you genuinely need to come here and eat. My friend and I basically decided in real time, while eating, that this would be our go-to spot from now on.

## The ₩12,000 egg roll, ketchup included

![Egg roll and ketchup at Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk](https://img.superchart.com/images/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch/dangsan-bone-haejangguk-hangover-lunch-19-1u2zl-900.webp)

Oh, and I almost forgot;;; the soup was so good I nearly missed this, haha, but our egg roll arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ketchup: passed.

So many restaurants give you just a tiny dab of ketchup with an egg roll, but wow, look at the amount of ketchup here.... look at this!!!!!

Extremely, extremely satisfied,,, it came out really fast too, and look at all the little bits of egg packed inside, totally homemade-tasting!!!!! So good.

Seriously, seriously, we ate so well, haha. Cleaned every dish. There was so much meat that we left some rice behind. Seriously, that much meat.

## Is Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk the best soup restaurant near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station?

The owner was genuinely kind too, and I think I'll just come back whenever pork bone soup crosses my mind. Seriously, at this price and this quality — this healthy, homemade feel, easy on the stomach, tons of meat — with prices these days being so high, I'm just extremely, extremely satisfied,,,,🩵

+Oh, and they have candy here too!!
