Last time, my husband and kid went to Kosi near Isu Station and had cold udon, and they raved about it so much that this time I joined them for a proper family dinner. Here's the story of Kosi Isu Branch, a favorite in Sadang-dong, Seoul. ## Location and parking at Kosi Isu Branch Kosi Isu Branch is on the 1st floor of the Isu Xi commercial building in Sadang-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul. Exit 9 of Isu Station (Line 7) nearby was under construction, so I came out through Exit 7 instead. It's also not far from Chongshin University Entrance (Line 4), and there's a bus stop close by, so it's easy to reach by public transit. Parking is available in the building's underground lot, with 1 hour of free parking support. The wood tones and white tones worked together beautifully, giving off real style. Artwork on the walls made it feel almost like a date at a gallery. Solo diners, couples on dates, families out for dinner, office workers — all kinds of people were eating there. On the tables were paper cups, shichimi (Japanese chili pepper blend), and other condiments, and opening the side compartment gave access to spoons, chopsticks, and tissues. Since we came with our kid, the staff brought over a kid-sized bowl, fork, tongs, and scissors. I'd seen this place mentioned as a top spot for tonkatsu near Isu Station, and the thin, crispy breading with firm meat inside lived up to it. It was hearty and filling. It was great dipped in salt with a bit of wasabi, or dipped in sauce. That was the moment I understood why my husband had been so insistent that we come here together. Apparently the dough is made with just three ingredients — salt, water, and flour — then goes through a first and second fermentation before resting for 48 hours total, which is exactly why it was so chewy and delicious. Made in the traditional Sanuki style, it was the kind of thing you keep wanting more of. The soy sauce is simmered in-house and aged for 24 hours, which is probably why it wasn't too salty, so I could pour on plenty.
