I went to Haenggung-dong so many times as a dating spot before getting married, haha. Recently I had a bit of free time and stopped by nearby with a close friend, and ended up at a new café.

Caffeine Focus had a great atmosphere in itself, but what really stood out was the view of the Hwaseong Fortress walls. The coffee and desserts were pretty good too, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place with both a great view and great coffee.

Caffeine Focus sits at the edge of Haenggung-dong. If you walk down the main Haenggung-dong street, you'll find it near the end — not too far a walk. There's a large public parking lot nearby too, so if you're driving, just search 'Suwon Hwaseong Parking Lot.'

## Floor-to-ceiling windows on every floor, fortress views upstairs

Caffeine Focus felt clean overall, and the space was laid out generously so it never felt cramped. Every floor has huge floor-to-ceiling windows for a really open feel, and the fortress view from the upper floor was seriously impressive.

On a nice day especially, the fortress walls, the green scenery, and the sky all come into view at once — the actual atmosphere was even better than it sounds. The window seats are especially great for photos, so I imagine it gets pretty competitive on weekends.

## The menu board at Caffeine Focus and what we ordered

Caffeine Focus had a wide variety of drinks, and since they bake bread in-house, there were plenty of desserts too. From house-made granola to sandwiches, it seemed like a great spot for a light brunch. Looking at the display case and ingredients, you could tell a lot of care went into each menu item.

What did we order? An Americano at ₩5,500 and a vanilla bean Basque cheesecake at ₩8,000.

### What makes this newly opened Suwon café worth a stop

Maybe because it's new, the place felt clean, and the smell of coffee inside was really nice. The owner was very kind too, and the overall vibe was comfortable enough to visit without any pressure.

That day I ordered the Americano and the cheesecake. Setting coffee and cake down by the fortress-view window — that combination alone made the mood of the day.

The weather was great too, so eating dessert while looking at the view outside, I lost track of time. It also felt more like a quiet break than the bustling cafés on the main Haenggung-dong street, which I liked even more.

## How the vanilla bean Basque cheesecake (₩8,000) tastes

I tried the cheesecake first since I'd been most looking forward to it. The moment the fork went in, it felt really good. Personally, I prefer a moist, soft texture over a dense, heavy-style Basque cake.

In the mouth, the savory cheese flavor and deep richness spread subtly, and the light feel of it stood out. The vanilla bean aroma and the level of browning on the outside were both perfect.

## The ₩5,500 Americano: nutty rather than acidic

Caffeine Focus's Americano was made with beans styled more toward nuttiness than a strong acidity. My close friend, who's also a coffee lover, praised it as easy to drink.

It also paired well with a rich dessert like the Basque cheesecake. I went there thinking it was a view spot, but the coffee turned out to be pretty great too.

## Who will enjoy Caffeine Focus most?

The weather was great that day, so I lost track of time enjoying Caffeine Focus while looking out at the Hwaseong Fortress walls. Honestly, I wanted to stay longer, but my child's school pickup time was approaching, so I got up with some reluctance.

Next time, I'd like to visit on a weekend with my family and try more of the desserts together. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fortress-view café in Suwon on a nice day, or a quiet café in Haenggung-dong.
