I tend to prefer cafés with lots of dessert options, like cakes and tarts, haha.

While I was out in Gojan-dong this time, I stopped by Deep Dive, a place that's pretty famous around here. I'd known about it for a while but this was my first visit, and both the desserts and the coffee were delicious. The variety of desserts was huge, and the cake I actually tried was really satisfying.

## Deep Dive's location and hours

Deep Dive is near the main street behind Jungang Station — it's easiest to find it across from Ansan Central Prugio. It's open every day from 11am to 2am, so it's fine to visit even after a late dinner. It's also close to the Jungang-dong food alley, which is packed with good restaurants, so it's easy to access.

## What's the interior like?

The space wasn't too small, but not huge either — a comfortable medium size. The big windows let you see outside clearly, so overall it didn't feel cramped. Mid-century style cafés used to be trendy for a while, but that vibe has mostly disappeared, which was a bit of a shame for me. Black interiors can easily feel stuffy, but you could tell the owner paid careful attention to every corner.

## Menu and dessert selection

I already knew Deep Dive was famous for having lots of cakes. But once I actually saw the showcase and display shelves, there was even more — scones, cookies, s'mores, and more. There were so many desserts that pair well with coffee that it seems worth visiting multiple times to try them one by one.

### The refrigerated showcase cakes

You can't talk about Deep Dive without mentioning the refrigerated cakes, right? There were tons of slice cakes and chilled tarts, spanning fruit, cheese, and chocolate varieties. Since it's such a well-known dessert spot, delivery orders kept coming in while we were still deciding what to get. With such a wide selection, it seems like a lot of people nearby order delivery too.

## What we ordered and how much it cost

This time, my bread-loving neighbor unnie and I ordered:

- Americano ₩4,300
- Fig gouda cheesecake ₩8,300

Since it felt like a café that focuses mainly on cakes, I didn't expect much from the coffee, but I was pretty surprised. It's a dark roast style with no sourness, coming through heavy and rich — right up my alley. Personally, I find dark roast pairs better with dessert than a bright, acidic coffee.

### How the fig gouda cheesecake tasted

The cake satisfied me from looks to portion size. The figs weren't just a few decorative slices on top — they burst in your mouth with every single bite. That's a feature of Deep Dive's cakes: they don't skimp on toppings, so the topping flavor really comes through strong. Paired with the coffee, it disappeared in no time.

## Who would I recommend Deep Dive to?

Deep Dive isn't a huge, sprawling café, but it has a wide range of desserts and the taste held up too. I'd especially recommend it to dessert lovers who want to try a variety of sweets one by one. Personally, since they're open pretty late, it's also a good spot to visit after a company dinner or a late meal. The atmosphere makes it comfortable to sit for a long time, so it could work as a date spot too — recommended.
