Arriving at 8pm with two friends, we picked a markdown beef platter (300g, 50,000 won) and a premium Korean pork platter (500g, 40,000 won), then added yukhoe bibimbap, cheonggukjang stew and cheese-topped steamed egg. It's a butcher's restaurant so they carry both beef and pork, and the meat was genuinely so fresh that I came away completely satisfied! The table charge was ₩0 too, so it was great value 🔥 ## Where is Hoseongjeong in Jeonju, and is there parking? Hoseongjeong Butcher's Restaurant sits right on Dongbu-daero in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, so it was easy to get to by car, and there's a parking lot right in front of the restaurant so parking was zero stress 👍 ## How do you pick your own beef and pork at Hoseongjeong? At Hoseongjeong you can pick out your meat yourself and take it home to cook, or eat it right there at the restaurant next door! Each cut in the refrigerated display case has a label with the grade, slaughter date, and expiration date, so you can pick with confidence. The sides are seriously varied, right? The kimchi, green onion kimchi, and aged kimchi all seemed to be made in-house! Didn't taste like factory kimchi at all....👍🏽👍🏽 They also set out seaweed soup as standard — isn't that such a nice touch? ### Soju 2,000 won, beer 2,500 won at the self-serve bar Drinks come from a self-serve bar where you just grab your own, and soju is ₩2,000 and beer is ₩2,500 — seriously 🫢 Isn't that amazing value?! You can also grab side dishes easily from the self-serve corner, which was great haha ## What a 50,000 won beef platter at Hoseongjeong gets you The three of us ate the Korean beef platter first and honestly... words weren't needed 🥹 I picked up a piece, dipped it lightly in just salt, and it was so tender and fresh it basically melted in my mouth before I even chewed. After the beef, they swapped the grill plate and round two began with pork 🐷 The pork belly had honeycomb-pattern scoring cut in tight, so when it hit the grill the fat rendered out evenly, leaving the outside crispy and the inside juicy. The moment I bit in, it was the most tender pork belly I'd ever had, with zero gamey smell — whoa 👏 Genuinely, genuinely delicious pork belly!! The bathroom was clean too, so despite being a butcher's restaurant there was zero smell or grimy feeling ✨ If you're looking for a spot in Jeonju with truly delicious beef and pork belly, definitely visit Hoseongjeong Butcher's Restaurant — great value and great taste ☺️ It's apparently already famous among locals in Jeonju... so make sure to try the delicious meat!
