As the weather turns chilly, guk-bap (soup with rice) is the food that comes to mind naturally. Honestly, I'm someone who loves a bowl of guk-bap with a shot of soju more than almost anything. Today, while I was in Incheon, I stopped by Gukdam Sundaeguk Main Branch, a well-known spot in Gansuk-dong, Incheon.

The chillier it gets, the more you need to look after your health, so I recommend having a warm meal even if it's just one. I'm a Korean-food person at heart, so a bowl of guk-bap is precious to me, but I notice a lot of people these days just grab something quick instead ㅠ

Gukdam Sundaeguk in Gansuk-dong, Incheon simmers its broth from dawn every day and prepares boiled meat along with homemade barley ssamjang and kkakdugi. The main dish is sundaeguk, but it looks like they've also launched gopchang jeongol, which sounds perfect for chilly days! I'll have to try that next time!!

This sundaeguk-bap, a Gansuk-dong restaurant staple, uses only sundae (blood sausage) and head meat. I took a first sip of the broth and it tasted almost like galbitang (short rib soup)? A completely clear sundaeguk~ They gave salted shrimp and dadaegi (spicy seasoning) on the side, but there was no need to add anything at all — the seasoning was already just right!

It only has sundae and head meat in it, but the amount of meat is quite generous. Every scoop is loaded with meat, and it's tender and delicious too!
