So it turns out there's a 24-hour Korean BBQ spot in Gangnam. It even has an all-you-can-eat self-serve bar with fresh wrap vegetables and all kinds of side dishes. The meat quality is great, the prices are low, and the place is clean — I think I'll be coming back here often.

There were also plenty of side dishes to pair with the meat — ssamjang (dipping sauce), cabbage kimchi, garlic, pickled onions, bean sprouts, enoki mushrooms, corn salad, and more.

Even though I only took small portions of each item, my plate ended up completely full.

## Thin-sliced (daepae) cuts and thickness options at Daepae Market

I thought daepae (thin-sliced) meat only came as pork belly, but this place had a huge variety. Thin-sliced pork belly, pork neck, pork belly, chewy pork belly, chewy pork neck, pork cheek/jowl, top-choice beef belly, 360-hour dry-aged pork neck, domestic clean-region duck — these were menu items I'd never seen before as thin-sliced cuts.

For some items, like the dry-aged pork neck, you could even choose the thickness of the meat. It seemed interesting, so I ordered a bunch of different cuts.

## Cross-ordering beef belly, pork neck and pork belly one serving each

Here you have to order at least 3 servings, but you can cross-order one serving of each cut. So I ordered one serving each of the top-choice beef belly, the 360-hour dry-aged pork neck, and the Jeju Duroc pork belly.

For sides to go with it, I ordered icy naengmyeon (cold noodles) and self-serve fried rice.

Each cut was 100g, for 300g total.

I was planning to order more if it wasn't enough, but the portions turned out to be bigger than expected, and I got full. For the pork neck, the standard thickness is 1.5mm, but since you could also choose the 3mm thick-cut version, I went with 3mm.

All the meat went on the grill at once, and since the burner had good heat and the cuts were so thin, everything cooked really fast. The sizzling sound of the meat cooking was just amazing.

As the frozen meat thawed, the color got more and more vivid, and the quality looked really good.

The meat browned up nicely so fast, and I ate it up with real enthusiasm.

The thinness made it easy to eat, and since it wasn't too fatty, it wasn't greasy either. There was zero gamey smell, so it was all delicious.

Wrapping the meat in the vegetables made it even better than eating it plain, so I completely devoured it.

The naengmyeon noodles were seriously chewy, and the savory depth of the icy, slushy broth was fantastic.

After finishing the meat, I fried up the self-serve fried rice right on the grill.

### How to make the self-serve fried rice taste best

After grilling the meat and all the side dishes, the grill got a bit messy, so before frying the rice, I poured a little water onto the empty grill and cleaned it up with a wooden spatula first.

Then I dumped the rice onto the grill and mixed it in well. There's actually a little tip that makes the fried rice even better.

Grab some kimchi from the self-serve bar to make kimchi fried rice, then finish with a drizzle of sesame oil at the end — it takes the fried rice to another level. It really is delicious this way, so definitely try it! You can also add garlic, mushrooms, bean sprouts, bracken fern, or any other self-serve bar ingredient you like. After the meat and then the fried rice, you'll be seriously full.

## Is Daepae Market good for a group dinner in Nonhyeon-dong?

Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch has a pretty spacious dining room. With lots of group tables, it's great for company dinners or gatherings.

There are plenty of pricey spots for company dinners in Gangnam, but if you want good value and to eat until you're full, this place is perfect. There's also an outdoor terrace, great for grilling meat outside on a nice-weather day.

The meat is cheap but the quality is quite good, so definitely give it a try.
