But I realized you really need to try jjagyechi from a place that does it right. The jjagyechi felt like an upgraded version of the regular jjapagetti (instant jjajang noodles) I usually eat. ## Grandma's seafood doenjang stew, 9,000 won You can't eat meat without doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)! This was also recommended as a bestseller, and it's a doenjang stew made with a rustic Gangwon-do-style soybean paste base. Rice is a must with this stew!! ## Old-school pork belly lunchbox, 5,000 won I was debating whether to just get plain rice, but I ordered the old-school lunchbox instead, and wow, it's genuinely delicious. It's a lunchbox with sweetly stir-fried Taebaek kimchi, Beefjeong's pork belly, fried egg, and seaweed flakes — and honestly, it was amazing. The whole point of an old-school lunchbox is closing the lid and shaking it up. Shake it well to mix everything, then take a big spoonful — the kimchi, pork belly, fried egg, and seaweed flakes all blend together into a flavor that can't miss. Add a spoonful of the doenjang stew and some pork belly on the side, and it's basically game over! The Taebaek kimchi in particular was really delicious. It's a menu item that loses money the more they sell, but it's a signature dish that absolutely shouldn't disappear. ## Birthday perk: the Beefjeong Gogi Jip meat cake Beefjeong is famous for its meat cake, but I'd never seen one in person, so I was really curious. And on the day I visited, there happened to be a table with a birthday reservation, so I got to see one in real life!!! When you order 3–4+ servings, they stack the meat into a cake shape, and the visual was incredible. That table's order apparently wasn't quite enough to make the cake look pretty, so the owner added extra on the house to make it look nicer. Such a kind place with great service. ## How to get a free bottle of soju at Beefjeong Gogi Jip There's also a fun, witty event the owner runs — if you've experienced a breakup, divorce, bereavement, falling out with a friend, being replaced by someone else, getting fired, or a business closing within the last 3 days, or if your ex just got married, you get a free bottle of soju! I asked if anyone actually uses it, and apparently friends sometimes do, but most customers just see it and laugh, finding it amusing.
