## In short

Sumswimjeni Posture Correction Therapy is a 1:1 personalized posture-correction studio in Songpa, Seoul, near Exit 1 of Seokchon Station. After consulting on over a year and a half of neck and shoulder pain, dizziness, and recently worsening outer right foot pain and left knee pain, the writer received the 70-minute Sumswim Care Intensive Rehab S course, which checked the feet, ankles, pelvis, and walking posture too. Before the session the W exercise was hard to do even three times, but afterward it was easy to do more than ten, and the writer went home with a wall W exercise and breathing technique to practice.

I've been struggling with neck and shoulder pain and dizziness for over a year and a half.

My neck and trapezius feel heavily pressed down, and on days when my body tension gets bad, dizziness comes along with it. Recently the pain on the outer side of my right foot and near my little toe got worse too, making walking itself uncomfortable. Since I couldn't use my right foot properly, my walking posture got thrown off, and afterward my left knee often hurt as well.

My neck and shoulders, and my foot and knee, felt like separate problems, but I felt I needed to look at my whole body's balance and movement together, so I visited Sumswimjeni, a posture-correction space in Jamsil.

## How close is it to Seokchon Station?

Sumswimjeni is about 173m from Exit 1 of Seokchon Station, Lines 8·9.

Walk straight from Exit 1, pass Burger King, and you'll see Honey Building next to Petwave, with 1983 Bangatgan on the first floor. Go up to the 6th floor of this building.

By bus, get off at 'Seokchonhosu·Hansol Hospital' stop, about a 1-minute walk.

If driving, search 'Sumswimjeni Parking' in your navigation, which will guide you to the dedicated lot behind the building. Being able to park for free in busy Jamsil was really convenient.

## A bright, quiet 1:1 private space

You can find the Sumswimjeni entrance right as you get off the elevator.

You change into slippers before going in, and Teacher Jenny greets you.

Walking inside, big windows let in plenty of sunlight, giving the whole place a bright, warm feel. Being on a high floor, the view was open too, and the plants and wood-toned interior together made it feel comfortable.

There was a full-length mirror and various exercise equipment, and the space with the treatment bed was separated by curtains.

Since it's a private space focused on one person per session, I could relax through the consultation and treatment without worrying about anyone else watching.

It felt like a space that makes you actually want to exercise and get treated. I bet the sunset is gorgeous if you come in the evening haha.

There were also separate treatment clothes, hangers, and a shower space. You don't need to bring your own clothes, and you can even wash your feet here.

## Checking my current condition after consultation

After changing, I filled out a consultation form before the treatment, and they really checked and asked about a lot of things in detail.

So I talked about everything: my long-lasting neck and shoulder pain, the dizziness that gets worse when my body tenses up, my rounded shoulders and bad posture, and the recently worsening pain in my right foot and left knee.

The teacher didn't just check where it hurt, but also looked at how I stand and walk, how I use my feet, and my everyday habits.

Rather than explaining the professional details in a difficult way, she explained step by step following the body's connections, which made it easy to understand why I was feeling this discomfort.

### Before the treatment, even three W exercises were hard

Before the main treatment, we did an exercise moving the arms into a W shape to check my shoulder movement.

It looked like a simple motion, but my neck and shoulders hurt so much that I could barely do it properly even three times.

With my shoulders rounded forward and a lot of tension in my neck and trapezius, I felt pain every time I moved my arms. Actually doing the motion made it clear just how tense my body usually was.

## 1:1 care tailored to my body — I fell asleep without realizing it

The treatment I received was the Sumswim Care Intensive Rehab S, 70-minute course. Rather than applying the same fixed treatment to everyone, it was 1:1 personalized care that started with a consultation to check my current pain, movement, and lifestyle habits, then proceeded according to my body's condition that day.

Since I had not just neck and shoulder pain but also dizziness, outer right foot pain, walking discomfort, and left knee pain, she looked at my whole body connected together — not just the neck and shoulders, but the feet, ankles, pelvis, and walking posture.

It wasn't a method of pressing hard no matter what, but I could still feel the tension built up inside my body slowly releasing.

Normally, even lying down, I have trouble letting go of tension because my body is uncomfortable, but this time I fell asleep partway through the treatment without realizing it. That's how relaxed my body must have become.

## Checking right foot pain and walking habits

Recently the outer side of my right foot and near my little toe hurt a lot, making walking hard, and afterward my left knee often hurt too.

The teacher carefully worked on the area around my feet and ankles, while also observing how I usually plant my feet and walk.

She said I have a habit of pushing my pelvis forward while walking. She explained that walking with this posture makes it hard to properly use the feet and calves, and can put strain on certain areas.

She told me that when walking, I need to feel the ground with my toes and apply force, and practice properly using my calves.

I thought that since my foot hurt, I just needed to loosen up my foot, but she said I needed to look at how I plant my foot, how I use my calves, and where my pelvis sits, all together.

She also said the habit of carrying a bag on only one shoulder can throw off the body's balance, so I should avoid that. Since I always carry my bag on whichever side feels comfortable, I should start alternating sides or use a backpack instead.

## Before and after the treatment

I also took photos of my back and side profile before and after the treatment to compare.

In the side profile before the treatment, my head and chin stuck out in front of my torso, and my shoulders were rounded forward. In the back view too, there was a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders, so my shoulder line couldn't drop down comfortably.

After the treatment, my body shape didn't completely change in one session, but my forward-leaning neck straightened up a little more, and my head came in more over my torso.

My rounded shoulders and chest also opened up more naturally than before, and the shoulder line in the back view looked noticeably more relaxed.

### From barely three W exercises to more than ten

After the treatment, I tried the W exercise again.

The motion that was hard to do even three times before, due to pain, I could now do more than ten times after the treatment.

Of course, my long-lasting neck and shoulder pain didn't completely disappear in just 70 minutes. But with my shoulders opened up a bit more and the pain and heaviness significantly reduced, I could do the same motion much more comfortably.

Rather than just a vague feeling that my body had improved, actually doing the same motion before and after made the change feel much clearer.

## A wall W exercise to do at home

After the treatment ended, she also taught me an exercise to continue doing at home.

It's an exercise where you stand with your body against a wall, straighten your pelvis and back, tuck your chin slightly without raising it, and move your arms into a W shape.

She explained that this motion is needed to correct my usual posture of a forward neck and rounded shoulders, and to create a natural curve in the neck.

She said it's important to do it slowly within a range that maintains body alignment, rather than pushing through pain just to increase the number of reps.

I felt that for someone like me with sensitive neck and shoulders, repeating the exercise in the correct posture in small amounts is more important than doing a lot of exercise.

![Wall W exercise posture that can be done at home](https://img.superchart.com/images/sumshimjenny-jamsil-foot-pain-gait-check/sumshimjenny-jamsil-foot-pain-gait-check-17-1l211-900.webp)

She also taught me a breathing method to do along with the exercise.

When breathing in through the nose, breathe in quietly and gently without making a sound, and when breathing out, exhale as if you're letting out a sigh, long and slow, as though releasing held-in breath.

She said it's important to breathe comfortably by releasing tension in the body, rather than forcing a big inhale. Since I tend to put a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders normally, I plan to keep practicing this breathing method along with the W exercise at home.

![Deep sea water salt information displayed in one corner of the space](https://img.superchart.com/images/sumshimjenny-jamsil-foot-pain-gait-check/sumshimjenny-jamsil-foot-pain-gait-check-18-119cw-900.webp)

## Deep sea water salt, too

On one side of the space, there was information and products related to deep sea water salt.

After the treatment, they gave me some deep sea water salt to take home too. I got the sense that they pay careful attention not just to body treatment but also to everyday condition and lifestyle habits.

## Attentive care that continued by text afterward

Sumswimjeni wasn't a place that ends once the 70-minute treatment is over.

The next day, the teacher personally checked in on my condition by text. She carefully asked whether I felt any discomfort after the treatment and how my body was responding.

And she told me to ask any time I had questions. I got the impression that this is a thorough, responsible place that keeps paying attention to changes even after the treatment, rather than treating me as a one-time customer.

Teacher Jenny is genuinely kind and truly skilled.

## My honest review after trying it myself

What impressed me most about Sumswimjeni was that it wasn't treatment that briefly loosens up just the painful spot, but 1:1 personalized care tailored to each person's different body condition and lifestyle habits.

She explained step by step how my right foot pain, uncomfortable walking, left knee pain, forward-leaning neck, and rounded shoulders could all be connected across my whole body.

Before the treatment I could barely do the W exercise three times, but afterward the pain had eased a lot, so I could do it more than ten times, and my rounded shoulders and neck line felt noticeably more relaxed.

Above all, my body relaxed so much that I fell asleep during the treatment without realizing it, and it was a meaningful time because I also learned exercises to do at home, how to walk, and even bag-carrying habits.

Even after the treatment, they checked my condition by text, so it didn't feel like just one session but like ongoing care. Of course, I can't say that one treatment completely resolved long-lasting pain or posture issues. But I was satisfied that they found what my body currently needed, gave me personalized care, and carefully looked after my condition afterward too.

If you're in Songpa and want therapy or posture correction, if your neck and shoulders often get tense or your shoulders are rounded, or if you want to check your foot discomfort and walking habits together, I think it's worth trying their 1:1 personalized care.

※ Individual results may vary, and Sumswimjeni's treatment does not replace diagnosis or treatment from a medical institution.
