If you're looking for a great spot for coffee and dessert after a meal in Gangnam, I visited Upper and Under and loved it~~ It's located between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station so it's super easy to get to, and they have coffee plus a wide range of desserts like financiers and cakes, so it's a great place to enjoy dessert too 💛

## Where is Upper and Under, and is there parking?

Upper and Under is 3-4 minutes from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6 and sits right on the restaurant strip, making it the perfect Sinnonhyeon café to find after a meal. The building itself is really striking so it's easy to spot right away!!! Just a heads-up, there's no parking~~

Near Gangnam Station there are plenty of cafés but it's often hard to actually find a seat — Upper and Under spans several floors so it felt comfortably spacious 💓

Upper and Under is a Gangnam Station café that also works for groups — if you're looking for a Gangnam café where you can enjoy dessert too, definitely save this one haha. Being right between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station makes it super accessible (≧∇≦)ﾉ

## Drink menu at Upper and Under

Upper and Under has a wide range of coffee, cold brew, ades and teas, and since they're known for their cream, the lattes looked really good too ㅠㅠ

There are lots of cake varieties, but since I visited late, not many were left, which was a bit of a bummer ㅠㅠ

Upper and Under uses several floors of the building as café space so it's genuinely spacious~~ From the semi-basement up to the 2nd floor and terrace haha. Each floor has a slightly different seating vibe, so it's fun to pick a spot you like 😊

## What the yellow cheese Basque cheesecake tastes like

What I tried at Upper and Under was four things: the yellow cheese financier, yellow cheese Basque cheesecake, matcha pistachio latte, and americano~~

The one I was most looking forward to — the yellow cheese Basque cheesecake!! It had that rich, dense cheesecake flavor typical of Basque cheesecake with the salty, savory taste of yellow cheese layered in just right~~ The first bite gives you the deep cheese flavor first!! Then the distinctive salty note of yellow cheese follows, giving it a charm different from a regular cheesecake 🤤

If you like sweet desserts but also want a strong cheese flavor to come through, this would suit you really well 💗 Paired with an americano, it's a perfect match!!!

## How does the matcha pistachio latte taste?

For a drink, I ordered the matcha pistachio latte. It's a matcha latte topped generously with pistachio cream, so it looks amazing and was totally my type haha

Taste the pistachio cream on top first and you get a nutty, smooth pistachio flavor, then the matcha latte underneath brings a subtle bitterness that blends in well — you get both flavors together!!!

Matcha's distinctive bitterness went better with the nutty, smooth pistachio than I expected~~ Truly a Gangnam Station café known for its lattes haha. Very satisfied with Upper and Under (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

## Yellow cheese financier with americano

### Is Upper and Under worth a late-night dessert stop?

The yellow cheese financier has such a delicious salty-savory yellow cheese flavor that this was actually my second time trying it 🥰 The buttery nuttiness typical of a financier plus the salty taste of yellow cheese makes for a much more complex flavor than a plain sweet dessert!!

Especially eaten together with coffee, the sweet-and-salty combo worked so well haha. If you want to enjoy trendy yellow cheese desserts along with a variety of drinks in a great space, I recommend Upper and Under, a Sinnonhyeon café!!
