Apparently this place is well known among people looking for large Namyangju cafés or Bukhangang riverside cafés, especially for its view of the river. Since you can enjoy coffee, dessert, and a full meal all in one space, it seemed like a good spot for a date or anniversary too — here's my review of Waltz and Dr. Mahn. ## Parking and waiting at Waltz and Dr. Mahn, a large Namyangju café Waltz and Dr. Mahn sits right on the Bukhangang riverside, so it's a great destination for a drive from Seoul. It's also fairly close to Dumulmeori, so it's a good choice if you're looking for a Dumulmeori café. We visited around 5pm on a Saturday. The parking lot was spacious and there was staff guiding cars, so parking was easy, and best of all, it was free. After parking, we tried to head straight into the café but there was a wait. You could join the queue through Catch Table! You choose your preferred seating type — indoor, outdoor, or either — and wait accordingly. We picked indoor seating since it had the shortest wait. At the time there were about 15 parties ahead of us in total, 11 for either-seating and about 4 indoor parties, and we waited around an hour. You can explore the history of coffee culture from around the world, and there are programs where you can grind beans and try hand-drip coffee yourself. If you're into coffee or want to do something different with your kids, it might be worth adding to your itinerary along with the café. > The Waltz and Dr. Mahn coffee museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and open Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00! I wanted to check out the museum while waiting, but since we visited at 5pm we didn't get the chance to. Luckily, the Bukhangang river was right there, so we spent the waiting time well. We walked along the riverside for about 20 minutes. Maybe because the weather was so nice, just walking felt great! Getting some fresh air and taking in the river scenery before sitting down at the café made the time pass quickly. The usable café space is on the 1st floor. The moment we walked in, I noticed the space was bigger than expected and had a classic atmosphere. Best of all, you could see the Bukhangang river through the windows. There are only about 7–8 seats right by the window, but you don't need to bother getting one — every seat has some view toward the windows, so you can enjoy the river scenery no matter where you sit. With the river visible through such wide windows, it didn't feel stuffy even sitting indoors, haha. Drinking coffee while looking out at the river felt a lot more relaxed than the usual café vibe. Prices run a bit higher than an average café, but since it's a space built around hand-drip coffee, it seemed worth experiencing at least once if you like coffee. When ordering drip coffee, you could also choose the strength — light, medium, or strong — so I went with medium. For that one, you could choose the base between milk and cold brew. It felt like a shame to just have coffee, so we also ordered opera cake. The cake was less sweet than I expected, which actually made it pair well with the coffee. We only used the café side, but the table right behind us was having the dinner course. Watching the dishes come out one by one, it looked genuinely delicious. With classical music concerts on Friday nights too, it sounds like it could make for an even more special time. ## Overall thoughts on our date Visiting with my boyfriend on a nice weekend, everything from the wait to the coffee menu to the riverside walk stuck with me like a scene from the day. The long wait threw me off at first, but being able to walk along the riverbank right in front made it far less boring than expected. Once inside, sitting and slowly drinking coffee while looking out at the Bukhangang river through the big windows was a really nice time. If you're driving out from Seoul for a date like we were, this seems like a great place to grab a coffee and take a walk around the area. And since you can have a full meal here too, not just coffee, next time I'd like to time our visit around a meal instead. That dinner course at the table behind us kept catching my eye, so next anniversary I'm thinking of coming back not for a café date but for a full course meal date. If you're looking for a café with a full view of the Bukhangang river, or a nice-atmosphere spot near Dumulmeori, this is a good Dumulmeori café to check out.
