## In short

Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch is a Chinese restaurant on the second floor between Yeoksam and Gangnam stations in Seoul, with plenty of solo diners. As a hangover cure the day after drinking, the writer ordered jjamjjamyeon (half jjajangmyeon, half jjamppong, 14,000 won) with sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes) added for 2,500 won, plus sweet and sour pork made with sticky rice flour at 20,000 won — the sujebi was chewier than the noodles, so next time it's sujebi jjamppong alone. The self-serve bar holds side dishes, rice, dessert drinks and even hair ties, making Jjamppong Jijon an easy place to eat alone.

## Why Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch for a solo Chinese meal near Yeoksam Station?

![Main photo of Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add-01-ca7q3-1200.webp)

Today I'm bringing you a review of Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch, a well-known Chinese restaurant near Yeoksam Station that's great for solo dining. I'd really wanted to try the sujebi jjamppong (hand-torn dough flakes in spicy seafood noodle soup) there, and since I needed to cure a hangover from drinking the night before, I figured this was the perfect chance — so I went right away. And since it's supposedly great for eating alone, there was no reason not to go. Haha.

It's located between Yeoksam and Gangnam stations, on the 2nd floor. Seems like a great spot for office workers in the area too.

Right when you go up, there's a terrace, which looks great for having coffee after a meal or for waiting if there's a line.

The inside seating was very spacious and plentiful, and best of all, they have baby chairs, so it's great to visit with kids too. True to its reputation as a good solo-dining spot, there were already 5-6 people eating alone when I visited.

## What's on the menu at Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch, and what we ordered

The menu ranged from cooked dishes to basic Chinese staples, and even had the sujebi jjamppong I'd been wanting haha. But once I actually looked at the menu in the shop, I suddenly wanted jjajangmyeon too, so I went with jjamjjamyeon and added sujebi. Kekeke.

- Sweet and sour pork (sticky rice flour) ₩20,000
- Jjamjjamyeon ₩14,000
- Sujebi add-on ₩2,500

An add-on menu that instantly solved my dilemma of wanting both noodles and sujebi! This was such a great option.

## The self-serve bar: side dishes, free rice and dessert drinks

Once you sit down, the owner brings pickled radish and water, and the basics like soy sauce, vinegar, and chili flakes are already set on the table.

![Self-serve bar with side dishes and rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add-15-146xg-900.webp)

For anything else, you help yourself from the self-serve bar, which has pickled radish, onion, jajangmyeon pickle (jjachai), and kimchi.

You can also grab any extra tableware you need. There were even cute hair ties, which made eating a lot more comfortable. This kind of little touch is just so nice, right~~

And that's not all! Rice is also at the self-serve bar, so if you run out, you can freely grab more. Big eaters, rejoice.

Even the dessert drinks were on point! Not just coffee, but ades, barley tea, and more — such a variety. These days no place goes to this much trouble; owner, are you sure you're making any profit off this!!!

## Sticky rice sweet and sour pork, 20,000 won: sauce poured and served on the side

The ordered dishes have arrived!! Looking at these photos makes me want to eat again... it's seriously good (JMT).

The sweet and sour pork comes in a pretty generous portion. They give you onion on top too, and eating them together is a great combo.

They pour the sauce underneath and place the pork on top, so you can enjoy it both sauce-poured (bumeok) and dip-style (jjikmeok). For someone like me who loves both, this was the perfect choice.

And the meat was so tender — I could cut it with just my teeth, no scissors needed, so soft and chewy that I just kept eating without thinking. There was a bit of pork left over that I should've packed to go, ugh.

## Jjamjjamyeon with sujebi added: did it cure the hangover?

You've got to pile on the chili flakes with jjajangmyeon to get the real taste~~~~kkkkk.

![Jjajangmyeon from the jjamjjamyeon topped with chili flakes](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add-20-1i036-900.webp)

![Jjajangmyeon noodles loaded with meat and vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add-21-k63ox-900.webp)

The jjajangmyeon was packed full of meat and vegetables inside, so unlike other places, it felt really generous. Some places skimp and just load up on sauce, but here they didn't hold back on the ingredients.

The jjamppong was also loaded with wood ear mushrooms, squid, scallops, and various other seafood and vegetables. You can adjust the spice level — if you want it a bit spicier, go up just one level! It's spicier than you'd expect!!

Adding the sujebi was a genius move. The sujebi here is seriously chewy and delicious. Personally I liked it even more than the noodles, so next time I'm going to order sujebi jjamppong all on its own.

![Jjamppong from the jjamjjamyeon with added sujebi](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add-22-ielbj-900.webp)

I got to eat everything I wanted and cured my hangover thoroughly — a well-known Chinese restaurant near Yeoksam Station that's great for solo dining, with service and taste that are both no joke.

![Dessert drink enjoyed after the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add-23-hlhr0-900.webp)

![Dessert candy placed at the checkout counter](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add/yeoksam-jjambbong-jijon-solo-sujebi-add-24-16bsh-900.webp)

Even the dessert included candy, not just drinks — I picked the sky blue one out of the many colors and it happened to be a flavor I like, so the ending was perfect too at Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch. I think I'll come here often before work to treat myself alone. I want to eat it again already, drooling.
