## A 24-hour gamjatang restaurant near Itaewon Station

Today I’m introducing Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch (누리마을감자탕 이태원점), a great gamjatang (pork bone soup) restaurant in Itaewon, Seoul. I had visited Nuri Maeul Gamjatang in Paju before, and I remembered how unbelievably delicious the pork bone braise was then. So when I spotted one in Itaewon too, I went straight in!!!!

Nuri Maeul Gamjatang is a two-minute walk from Itaewon Station! I loved the location even more because it’s so convenient. They sell not only gamjatang but also gukbap (rice soup), hangover soup, pork bone braise, noodles, naengmyeon (cold noodles), and more, so it’s great for lunch—or for breakfast after a late night at a bar or club. Open 24 hours.

The dining room is really spacious and comfortable. As it turns out, it’s a freshly opened new spot. Of course, Nuri Maeul Gamjatang itself is a long-established restaurant! The interior was so clean, which made me like it even more. Every staff member was kind, too. And a robot brings the food over—so fascinating every time I see one.

## A varied menu, from gamjatang to soy milk noodles

Here’s the menu at Nuri Maeul Gamjatang, an Itaewon favorite. There isn’t just one kind of gamjatang, either. They even have mala gamjatang. A whole new world...! With gamjatang, pork bone braise, hangover soup, galbitang (beef short-rib soup), sundae gukbap (blood-sausage rice soup), naengmyeon, stir-fried pork, bulgogi, kimchi stew, soft tofu stew, cold noodle soups, soy milk noodles, and so much more, it’s a great place to choose whatever you’re craving :) They also have king-sized dumplings as a side!

They’re also running a receipt review event, and you can participate more than once. Go with a friend, have both of you join in, and pick up ramen, sujebi, dumplings, and drinks too :)

![Receipt review event information](https://img.superchart.com/images/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul-14-f226z-900.webp)

The basic side dishes can be refilled without limit at the self-service bar: cubed radish kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi, pickled onions, and chili peppers! But kimchi is always important to me. And the kimchi was seriously good. I refilled it twice. It didn’t have that Chinese-made-kimchi feel; it was exactly the tasty kind—crisp and nicely spicy.

And then there was the pork-bone hangover-soup broth that comes as a complimentary service. This broth also came at Nuri Maeul Gamjatang in Paju before, and after one sip I said, “Wow, this is the perfect anju (drinking snack) for soju!” Of course, I can’t drink soju, haha. That’s how good it was. You could simply order a bowl of rice, mix it in, and have a full meal in no time.

## A generous spicy pork bone braise, even at regular heat

> Spicy pork bone braise

![Spicy pork bone braise with udon and add-ins](https://img.superchart.com/images/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul-17-13gdq-900.webp)

We ordered the spicy pork bone braise. There were two of us, so we got the smallest size, small. I honestly thought they had brought the wrong order. The portion was enormous. Such a generous pork bone braise.

Nuri Maeul Gamjatang’s spicy pork bone braise comes packed with all kinds of add-ins—udon noodles, rice cakes, sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes), and more—which makes it even better. There were lots of big, chunky pieces of meat too!

![Udon add-in in spicy-seasoned pork bone braise](https://img.superchart.com/images/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul-18-s7r57-900.webp)

I tried the udon first. The seasoning was so warming, spicy, and delicious that the udon was amazing too. With just meat, it could have felt a little lacking, but the variety of add-ins made it fun to eat. The seasoning is truly the key. You can choose the spice level; we ordered regular heat. It was still a little spicy, so if you love heat, the spicy level would be worth trying :)

Then I picked up a piece of the pork bone braise. For reference, I ate only one piece and got so full that my partner ate the rest. (Though I did eat all the udon, hehe.) Which means the meat was seriously thick, with so much meat attached to each bone.

![Pork bone braise with thick meat attached](https://img.superchart.com/images/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul-20-1rwxv-900.webp)

![Generous pieces of pork bone braise meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul-21-1m8kj-900.webp)

The meat was really thick on the bones. It was so tender too—none of it was tough, and there was no odor at all. As expected, so delicious. This was my second visit to Nuri Maeul Gamjatang, but the pork bone braise is so good that I can’t bring myself to order anything else.... I want to try the other dishes too, so next time I’m bringing more people and ordering a variety of things.

![Pork bone braise with rice cakes and sujebi](https://img.superchart.com/images/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul-22-gl1at-900.webp)

The sujebi was chewy, and the rice cakes were delicious too. If you like Yeopgi Tteokbokki, you’ll really enjoy the rice cake and spicy-sauce combination in this pork bone braise!

## Nutty soy milk noodles with sugar

We also ordered kongguksu (cold noodles in soy milk), a summer specialty. I hadn’t had kongguksu at all this summer. The look alone passed the test.

![A bowl of nutty soy milk noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul/itaewon-spicy-bone-stew-noorimaeul-23-o8sbl-900.webp)

The noodles were chewy, and the soy milk broth was wonderfully nutty. They provided both salt and sugar. Personally, I’m on team sugar. I added lots of sugar, and it made the soy milk broth sweet and so delicious :) If I go to Itaewon again, this is absolutely a place I want to revisit. I wish Nuri Maeul Gamjatang would open in my neighborhood too ㅠ_ㅠ Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch is a pork bone braise restaurant that makes me marvel every visit. It was such a hearty, delicious meal!
