## In short

Sushi Hibi is a sushi omakase restaurant in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Yeongdeungpogu-cheong Station. Visiting with a friend, the writer worked through a 16-course ₩50,000 lunch omakase from egg tofu to strawberry sorbet, and the eel, seared crisp on the outside, won over even a friend who normally avoids eel because of its bones. At ₩50,000, the portion and detail feel almost unbelievable, making it a great pick for an anniversary date or a mood-lifting lunch.

This is the basic table setting at your seat. The chef was prepping right in front of us, so we waited for the meal with our hearts fluttering a bit 🥰

## What's in the ₩50,000 lunch omakase?

![Sushi Hibi lunch omakase menu information](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-07-fsy1y-900.webp)

The lunch omakase is ₩50,000 per person for two. Among today's omakase prices, ₩50,000 for lunch is genuinely reasonable! Both lunch and dinner run on fixed weekday/weekend first and second sittings, so booking ahead through Catchtable is a must ❗

### 1. Tamago-dofu (egg tofu)

![Egg tofu topped with shrimp and pumpkin](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-08-tknyp-900.webp)
*1. Tamago-dofu (egg tofu)*

It's not actual tofu but tofu made from egg, and it's as soft as pudding 🍮 The combination with chewy shrimp and sweet pumpkin was absolutely fantastic.

### 2. Sunomono

![Sunomono with vinegar jelly, seaweed, and octopus](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-09-1p9tr-900.webp)
*2. Sunomono*

Tangy vinegar jelly paired beautifully with seaweed and octopus. Cool and sour, it was the perfect palate cleanser 🐙

### 3. Halibut sashimi

*3. Halibut sashimi*

The chef recommended either salt + wasabi or soy sauce + wasabi. Personally, I preferred salt + wasabi since the nutty flavor came through better haha.

### 4. Spanish mackerel yuzu-yaki

![Spanish mackerel yuzu-yaki with yuzu-pickled radish](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-11-f57qd-900.webp)
*4. Spanish mackerel yuzu-yaki*

The mackerel came with radish pickled in yuzu sauce 🍊 The mild mackerel paired with the tangy yuzu radish hit a really clean balance.

### 5. Red seabream

![Red seabream nigiri with fried scallion inside](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-12-1dhwy-900.webp)
*5. Red seabream*

This red seabream nigiri kicked off the sushi part of the course! Tucked inside the neta was fried white scallion — such a treat! It wasn't just a plain red seabream nigiri; the chef's personal touch made it that much more memorable.

### 6. Horse mackerel

![A piece of horse mackerel nigiri](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-13-1b0up-900.webp)
*6. Horse mackerel*

Being a blue-backed fish, it could easily be fishy, but it wasn't at all — surprisingly smooth 😆

### 7. Sweet shrimp

![Springy sweet shrimp nigiri](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-14-13ohm-900.webp)
*7. Sweet shrimp*

As a shrimp lover, this sweet shrimp nigiri was my favorite 🦐 The springy texture came through clearly, and the sweetness deepened with every bite — so good haha.

### 8. Ankimo (monkfish liver)

![Ankimo piled with rice on seaweed](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-15-18mtf-900.webp)
*8. Ankimo*

Ankimo piled generously with rice on a sheet of seaweed, eaten by hand! An ingredient that could easily be fishy, but there was no fishiness at all — just a sweet, rich softness that spread through your mouth.

### 9. Greater amberjack

![Greater amberjack nigiri topped with yuzu](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-16-f0ra0-900.webp)
*9. Greater amberjack*

Summer amberjack! The tangy yuzu on top of the neta paired with the fish's rich fattiness for an even more luxurious flavor 💛

### 10. Tuna akami

![Soy-cured tuna akami nigiri](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-17-1f5hm-900.webp)
*10. Tuna akami*

I basically inhaled this the second it arrived, so I had to ask my friend to send me a photo of it afterward — the tuna akami 🤣 Lightly cured in soy sauce, the seasoning was perfect, and it melted the moment I bit into it! 😋

### 11. Mackerel

![Mackerel nigiri topped with pickled ginger](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-18-ohyqq-900.webp)
*11. Mackerel*

I worried mackerel might be fishy, but thanks to the pickled ginger garnish on top, there wasn't a trace of it!

### 12. Eel

![Eel nigiri seared crisp on the outside](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-19-68g03-900.webp)
*12. Eel*

The chef said he seared the outside crisp so you wouldn't feel the small bones — and sure enough, the moment I bit in there was no bone texture at all, just crispy outside and melt-in-your-mouth soft inside 😊 Even my friend, who normally avoids eel because of its bones, kept marveling and eating it up happily!

### 13. Futomaki

![Futomaki roll with a packed cross-section](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-20-1yb2z-900.webp)
*13. Futomaki*

The cross-section looked so packed it felt almost a shame to eat it in one bite. But futomaki really is best devoured in one big bite! 🤗

### 14. Udon

![Udon with thin, smooth noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-21-t8ni7-900.webp)
*14. Udon*

Instead of the usual thick udon noodles, these were thin and smooth, which made them even more appealing. Even thin, the noodles kept a chewy bite the whole way through — delicious haha.

### 15. Grilled egg

![Grilled egg made with egg and shrimp meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-22-ljthn-900.webp)
*15. Grilled egg*

This grilled egg is made from egg blended with shrimp meat, and the texture is soft and fluffy like castella cake — pure art. The subtle sweetness makes it feel like eating a fancy cake.

### 16. Strawberry sorbet

![Strawberry sorbet topped with apple mint](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-23-10182-900.webp)
*16. Strawberry sorbet*

The strawberry sorbet gave the course a clean, perfect finish 🍓 The strawberry scent hit the moment I took a bite. Eating it with the apple mint on top especially brought a burst of freshness that left my mouth feeling clean and refreshed. It was the perfect ending dessert to a perfect meal haha 🍨

## Final verdict — great for an anniversary date or a mood-lifting lunch

![Counter at Sushi Hibi after finishing the lunch omakase course](https://img.superchart.com/images/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel/sushi-hibi-yeongdeungpo-lunch-omakase-eel-24-1offs-900.webp)

If you're looking for a sushi omakase near Yeongdeungpogu-cheong Station that nails both value and quality, I highly recommend Sushi Hibi! 👍 The ₩50,000 lunch price is almost unbelievable given how packed the course is, and the chef's careful attention to detail made the whole meal feel like being pampered 😍

The interior is clean and there's a proper place to store your bags and coats, which makes it a great spot for an anniversary date or a mood-lifting lunch 💛 I'm definitely planning to come back soon for the dinner course too!
