## In short

Gwangseonjip Kkachisan Station Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Gomdallae-gil in Gangseo, Seoul, where the signature seasoned kkodeulsal (chewy pork cheek) comes out fully grilled from the kitchen. Two people ordered 3 servings of seasoned kkodeulsal plus self-made fried rice and left full, helped along by pineapple enzyme drink, shiitake wasabi and an ice basket for drinks. Ten-plus visits later, the chewy texture and sweet-spicy sauce still hold up at Gwangseonjip, so register on the CatchTable waitlist first on weekends.

A truly delicious Korean BBQ restaurant near Kkachisan Station in Mokdong — Gwangseonjip, where I've gone back for the kkodeulsal (pork cheek meat) more than 10 times. Did you know there's a great meat restaurant on Gomdallae-gil? Every time we go, the two of us eat 3 servings of seasoned kkodeulsal plus fried rice until we're stuffed. This place is such a genuine local favorite that even though it's a neighborhood spot, the weekend wait gets long enough that people register on CatchTable — so I wanted to write this review and really encourage you to try it ◡̈ Here's my review of Gwangseonjip Kkachisan Station Main Branch, a Korean BBQ spot in Mokdong near Kkachisan Station where everything comes fully grilled from the kitchen~

## Where is Gwangseonjip Kkachisan Station Main Branch, and how do you get there?

Gwangseonjip Kkachisan Station Main Branch sits on Gomdallae-gil, close to exit 2 of Kkachisan Station. There's a bus stop right in front too, so it's easy to get to. We always take the bus there and back haha.

![CatchTable on-site waitlist kiosk at Gwangseonjip's entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap-02-1t1lc-900.webp)

## Weekend waits: start with the CatchTable kiosk

This place is so popular that there's a CatchTable on-site waitlist kiosk right at the entrance!! On weekends or during peak hours the wait can get long, so it's important to register your number as soon as you arrive ⭐️ You can wait on the chairs outside. Registering is simple, and you get an alert when it's your turn, so you can wait comfortably.

### Inside Gwangseonjip: seating and how fast tables turn

Inside, it's a clean, tidy interior with comfortable wooden tables. There are about 10 tables of 4, and since people tend to drink and linger, the turnover isn't exactly fast. But it's a place worth waiting for!

![Grill with a mesh cover over the tabletop](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap-04-1m0jt-900.webp)

## Small touches: mesh grill covers and pineapple enzyme drink

Once you sit down, you'll notice a hygienic mesh cover neatly placed over the grill — a nice touch of care. It keeps dust and debris off the food, so we could get set up for the meal with peace of mind, and the tables were kept extremely clean.

![Pineapple enzyme drink served before the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap-05-z2tfb-900.webp)

Before the meal, they bring out a pineapple enzyme drink with honey and vitamin C, one for each person. Even a small detail like this shows how much they care about their guests — genuinely touching ◡̈

![Tablet ordering screen installed at the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap-06-1m6yw-900.webp)

Every table has a tablet installed, so you can browse the menu and order directly with ease! The screen also shows info about gacha draws and receipt review events. You can get perks or discounts just by participating, so definitely check it out when you visit.

## Spice levels for seasoned kkodeulsal, and why two people order 3 servings

For Gwangseonjip's signature kkodeulsal, you can choose your own spice level (mild, medium, or spicy). We always pick mild to suit our taste, and since we eat a lot, 2 servings always feel slightly short — so we usually end up adding on and eating 3 servings of the seasoned kkodeulsal. You can add just 1 serving of the salt-seasoned version, but the sauced version can only be added in units of 2, so it's better to order more from the start.

![Full spread of basic side dishes around the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap-08-17ptp-900.webp)

## What banchan and sauces come with the meat?

Before the main dish arrives, the table fills up with a solid spread of side dishes around the grill. Lettuce, pickles, sauces, and corn mayo are all neatly arranged, perfect for eating with the meat. The banchan alone are so well put-together that our chopsticks were already busy before the main dish even showed up lol.

![Sweet-and-tangy salad and pickled onions](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap-09-aupnk-900.webp)

A refreshing salad of onions and crunchy vegetables tossed in a sweet-and-tangy house dressing. It's a great side for cutting through the richness of the meat, and it pairs perfectly when wrapped with the meat. They'd added pickled onions since our last visit too — I always make sure to eat this every time I have meat, and I loved that.

![Small dishes of ssamjang, salt, wasabi, and shiitake wasabi](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap-10-1qk6b-900.webp)

Ssamjang, salt, wasabi, and shiitake wasabi come out in cute little dishes to bring out the flavor of the meat. Adding a little of each depending on your taste lets you enjoy a variety of flavors. The combination of shiitake wasabi with the juicy kkodeulsal in particular is fantastic — we even asked for a refill.

![Corn cheese mayo cooking on the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap-11-8mdxc-900.webp)

### Corn cheese mayo as a starter at Gwangseonjip

It's great for settling your stomach before diving into the spicy seasoned meat, and it's a flavor kids love too!!

For the corn cheese mayo, once it starts bubbling gently, turn off the heat, stir it, and it's ready to eat. It tastes similar to the sides you get at a raw fish restaurant, and eating it before the meat makes it a great appetizer.

![Drinks and alcohol served in an ice-filled basket](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap/gwangseonjip-kkodeulsal-yangnyeom-bokkeumbap-12-skaks-900.webp)

Drinks and alcohol you order come served in a basket full of ice to keep them cold. You can enjoy fully chilled soda and drinks until the very end of the meal, without ever drinking anything lukewarm. I think a small service like this really elevates the restaurant and makes the whole meal much more enjoyable haha.

## Seasoned kkodeulsal, grilled in the kitchen before it reaches the table

Finally, the main dish we'd been waiting for — seasoned kkodeulsal, generously plated with a variety of vegetables. Bean sprouts, mushrooms, fernbrake, and other vegetables together with the glistening kkodeulsal make for an overwhelming combo haha. Since it's fully cooked in the kitchen, you don't have to worry about your clothes smelling like smoke, and you can dig in right away.

You can choose between a sweet soy sauce or a spicy sauce to drizzle over the vegetables. We always go with the sweet soy sauce, and then let the spicy sauce simmer a bit longer before dipping the meat in it — this combo is the best.

## Finishing with self-made fried rice

After enjoying the meat, there's a course you can never skip — the self-fried rice ingredients arrive! A bowl of rice topped generously with fragrant roasted seaweed flakes, sesame, green onion, and the house sauce comes out, and it's best after you scoop out a bit of the broth and chop up the vegetables and meat.

Even if you're full, you have to order this — Gwangseonjip's finishing-touch dish, the fried rice 🤍 The savory oil and sweet-spicy sauce from the kkodeulsal coat every single grain of rice, and it's genuinely delicious. It's best when you let it crisp up a bit like nurungji (scorched rice) and scrape it off the pan.

## Why Gwangseonjip is worth more than 10 return visits

If you're looking for a truly great meat restaurant near Kkachisan Station and Gomdallae-gil, I genuinely recommend Gwangseonjip's main branch. I've gone back more than 10 times, and the chewy texture of the kkodeulsal and its spicy-sweet sauce are honestly incomparable. The wait can get long, so I recommend making full use of CatchTable when you visit, and definitely enjoy the full course by finishing with the savory fried rice!
