There are so many unusual desserts around these days, but this time I went to BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch specifically for the peach wakppu salt bread — the look of it alone was wild 🙄🥹

But once I got there, it turned out there were way too many bread varieties to just eat the wakppu salt bread and leave, haha. Bottom line: everything in their bakery lineup was genuinely tasty 💜💜 If you love baked pastries (gugwan-gwaja), you might lose your mind a little here.

## Inside BYWAY BAKERS: seating, group tables and the reservable room

The inside of BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch was bigger than I expected. Since it has so many bakery items, I figured it'd be mostly a takeout-only spot, but there was actually plenty of space set up for sitting and eating.

It felt totally fine to come alone and just have one pastry with coffee, and there were also group tables for several people. In the back, there was even a room-style space you could reserve, which looked great for when a bigger group gets together.

Personally, the first thing that surprised me was that the bakery lineup was way more varied than I expected. This wasn't a café with just a few kinds of salt bread — there was a whole section packed with financiers, egg tarts, pretzels, madeleines, and more baked goods.

The egg tart was especially, especially good here. They also have a huge range of financiers.

I visited around 3pm on a weekday and the variety was still great.

As you can see from the photos, the financier flavors — salty, fig, pecan pie, almond chocolate, hwang cheese, and more — made choosing genuinely fun. I'd already decided on the wakppu salt bread going in, but after one loop around the display case, I ended up adding a whole extra takeout order, haha.

First off, the look of it is genuinely unusual.

It comes wrapped in a net — the concept is on point, haha — with a cute little peach jelly on top.

Plastic gloves come included too.

There's a white chocolate coating on top and it's genuinely so crackly-crisp!! It has that full wakppu salt bread feel.

Inside, it's packed with peach — looks like hwangdo (yellow) peach. It's refreshing, and honestly leans more tart than sweet, more than I expected.

## Is BYWAY BAKERS worth it for bread near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office?

BYWAY BAKERS isn't the type of place that pushes one single signature item — the whole bakery lineup is varied and the base quality was solid across the board. I originally went for the peach wakppu salt bread, but after actually eating, I was just as satisfied with the egg tart and the financiers, so I'd honestly recommend picking a bit of everything instead.

The interior is spacious enough that it's fine to come alone for coffee, and it also seemed comfortable for splitting several pastries with friends or visiting as a group.

If I have a reason to head to the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office area again, next time I won't just settle on one salt bread — I'll do a full loop of the display case first, haha. If I go back, I'll probably pack the wakppu salt bread plus a bunch of financiers I haven't tried yet.
