I visited Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch while looking for a place to have dinner and a drink with a friend in Yeouido. Unlike a typical izakaya where you simply eat at a table, this was fun because I could watch the food being grilled right in front of me at the counter, so I wanted to introduce it to you haha.

It is about 300 m from Exit 1 of Saetgang Station, so it was not far to walk. It is in a convenient spot when you have dinner plans in Yeouido and are looking for somewhere to have a drink.

## An exterior with the feel of a Japanese tavern

The atmosphere was clear from the exterior alone. The wooden facade and lattice-patterned windows gave it the feel of a Japanese tavern. From the sign to the entrance, the whole exterior had a proper robatayaki feel.

## Watching skewers being grilled at the counter

Inside, there was a counter in the middle, with staff preparing food right in front of us. The lighting was generally dim and there was lots of wood in the interior, creating a nice atmosphere for evening drinks.

More than anything, the fun of this place is that they grill the food right in front of you. They put the skewers over the fire and turn them as they cook, and you can watch the whole thing from your seat. Since they were grilling right in front of us, it was entertaining to watch while we waited for the food. I think a GIF conveys the on-site atmosphere much better than a photo.

Ingredients for the skewers were also prepared around the counter, which made it fun to see what might come out next. In particular, I could see fish hanging in a refrigerated display on one side. It had that distinctive robatayaki atmosphere of preparing ingredients fresh and grilling them before your eyes, so there was plenty to look at.

## A wide range of drinking snacks, from skewers to jjamppong

The menu had a wide range, from grilled skewers and fried dishes to grilled fish, oden soup and jjamppong (spicy noodle soup). There were also many types of alcohol, including highballs, so it was easy to choose according to the preferences of whoever you came with.

They say they give you vanilla cheese ice cream when you write a Naver receipt review. It was described as a dessert combining the rich, savory flavor of cheese with the sweetness of vanilla.

## Assorted grilled skewers and fried dishes ordered with a friend

I ordered a two-set assortment of grilled skewers and assorted fried dishes. Since there were two of us, I chose items that would let us try a variety of things. The assorted grilled skewers were ₩24,000 and the assorted fried dishes were ₩24,000, for a total of ₩44,000!

First up were the assorted grilled skewers. Having several kinds of skewers together on one plate made it fun to choose them one by one.

There was a variety, from shrimp to vegetables and meat, so it was nice for my friend and me to pick what we each wanted. Especially after watching them grill the skewers in front of us, eating them once they arrived on the plate felt like enjoying the cooking process too. As I tried the skewers one by one, I understood why grilled skewers are such a popular drinking snack. Rather than eating a lot at once, they were good for slowly having a drink, picking up a skewer, chatting, and taking your time.

Skewers alone did not feel like enough, so I also ordered the assorted fried dishes haha. With several kinds served on one plate, the table quickly looked plentiful.

The combination was nice when I picked up the crisp fried pieces one by one and alternated them with the skewers. When visiting with a friend, having both skewers and fried dishes on the table instead of ordering just one snack was great because we could enjoy a variety of flavors.

We set out the skewers and fried dishes together and had highballs too. Besides highballs, there were many kinds of alcohol, so it was nice to have plenty of options. The restaurant was fairly quiet as well, making it a good place to chat with a friend while eating bite by bite.

After eating a fair amount of the skewers and fried dishes, I started craving something warm and brothy. So I ordered Nagasaki jjamppong as a finishing dish. The broth had seafood such as shrimp and mussels, along with vegetables, so it looked generous from the start. After the skewers and fried dishes, adding a warm soup dish made it feel like we had properly finished the meal.

## Things to know before visiting

- It is close to Exit 1 of Saetgang Station, so it is convenient to visit by public transportation.
- You can watch your food being grilled at the counter, so taking a counter seat is a good option if you want to fully enjoy the robatayaki atmosphere.
- From highballs to a range of other drinks, it is well suited to people who enjoy trying different types of alcohol.
- Hours are daily from 17:00 to 01:30, with last orders at 00:30, so check the order cutoff if you are visiting late.

I visited while looking for somewhere to have dinner and a drink with a friend in Yeouido, and the biggest feature was being able to watch food grilled right in front of us at the counter. Ordering skewers and fried dishes together gave us a variety of drinking snacks to enjoy, and the selection from highballs to other drinks made it easy to choose what to drink. Above all, it was fun in a different way from an ordinary bar because we could watch the grilling instead of simply waiting for the food to arrive. It was a nice place to consider when looking for a Japanese-style bar in Yeouido for dinner and drinks with a friend.
