## In short

Jjigaen Jjukkumi Yongmun Market Branch is a spicy octopus restaurant in the Yongmun Market alley near Hyochang Park Station in Yongsan, Seoul. Two diners ordered two servings of jjuksam (octopus and pork belly) at a mild-spicy level, added the signature kimchi jjigae for two to three people to cool down the heat, and skipped the fried rice because the portions were so generous. Verdict: a solid pick for octopus lovers who want to balance the heat with a hearty stew, especially in the old-school pocha-style dining room.

Today I'm introducing Jjigaen Jjukkumi Yongmun Market Branch, a go-to spot near Hyochang Park Station! It's also a great Yongsan date spot haha

## Five minutes from Hyochang Park Station through the Yongmun Market alley

Jjigaen Jjukkumi Yongmun Market Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Hyochang Park Station Exit 3 through the Yongmun Market alley haha. There's no dedicated parking lot, but there's a public parking lot nearby, so it looked convenient to drive there too 🚘 It's a spicy octopus (jjukkumi) restaurant, but the name Jjigaen Jjukkumi comes from the way you get to enjoy spicy octopus alongside a stew (jjigae)!

It turns out this is a well-known spicy octopus spot in the neighborhood, one that's even appeared on several TV shows like Amazing Saturday haha

Here's the menu :)

## How many people can reserve for?

I visited with one other person, so we didn't make a reservation. You can book for up to 12 people, and if you reserve through Naver and order jjuksam, they give you a coupon for double the pork belly ~ so if you're planning to visit, check the reservation link!

Basic side dishes included lettuce wraps, peppers, stir-fried fish cake, pickled radish, and more haha. The interior had that old-school pocha (street tent bar) vibe, which looked great for having a few drinks too 🍻🍻

## Jjuksam for two, mild-spicy

Then we ordered jjuksam — the octopus + pork belly combo — for two people. This right here is jjuksam! You can adjust the spice level when ordering, so as spice wimps we went with mild-spicy haha. Apparently the sauce at Jjigaen Jjukkumi is a house-made sauce aged for 48 hours!

- There are various sarior (extra add-ins) available, so feel free to add more according to your taste haha

There's a generous amount of bean sprouts too ~ once the sauce coats the octopus and pork belly and starts cooking through, it's ready to eat haha

## The signature kimchi jjigae that tamed the spice

Here's the kimchi jjigae for 2–3 people that we ordered as an extra!! 😎😎 Highly recommend this menu! It's a signature dish you can only enjoy at Jjigaen Jjukkumi ♥️

It was amazing! It paired so well with the spicy octopus haha. Something that cools the heat down while it's spicy,, haha

## Portions were so generous we skipped the fried rice

Plump, chewy, spicy octopus ♥️ No fishy smell at all, and it went perfectly with beer haha. The portions were huge too haha. So that day we were so full we skipped the fried rice haha

The octopus and pork belly tasted even better wrapped in lettuce 〰️ Give Jjigaen Jjukkumi Yongmun Market Branch a try — a long-standing neighborhood spicy octopus spot tucked in the Yongmun Market alley~
