## In short

Jonggak-ap Nosang Gongyeong Juchajang is a charcoal-grill Korean BBQ restaurant on the 5th floor near Jonggak Station in Jongno, Seoul, where staff grill the meat from start to finish. On a family day out in Jongno, the ₩99,000 two-person recommended set came with added kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice, banban naengmyeon (half-and-half cold noodles) and steamed egg custard, and the high-backed private booths made eating with a child relaxed. Followed by a walk along Cheonggyecheon and a stop at Kyobo Bookstore in Gwanghwamun, Jonggak-ap Nosang Gongyeong Juchajang anchors a full weekend course for families.

Today I want to share my review of a Korean BBQ spot near Jonggak Station that I visited with my kid during an outing in Jongno — Jonggak-ap Nosang Gongyeong Juchajang. I'll walk through the delicious meat, the food menu, and a great walking route for after the meal along Cheonggyecheon and Kyobo Bookstore.

## Is the seating at Jonggak-ap Nosang Gongyeong Juchajang comfortable with a child?

The moment I walked into this place near Jonggak Station, what I liked most was how private the seating felt.

This restaurant only uses 1++ grade hanwoo (Korean beef) and domestic chilled female pork, aged using their own know-how. On top of that, they grill everything over charcoal, so a deep smoky aroma comes through as the meat cooks — a real signature of the place.

Every seat has a high backrest, so we could chat comfortably as a family without worrying about the tables around us.

Even with a kid along, the layout let us relax without feeling watched by other diners — perfect for family gatherings or dates. It's a BBQ place, but with staff grilling and this much privacy, it could even work for a blind date, haha!

## What we added to the ₩99,000 two-person recommended set

That day we got the two-person recommended set (₩99,000) and rounded it out with kkakdugi fried rice, banban naengmyeon (half-and-half cold noodles), and, for our kid, egg custard.

Eating out with a kid at a BBQ place can feel intimidating — the grill is dangerous and you're often too busy grilling to actually eat. But here, the staff grill everything for you, so we could enjoy the meal in a truly relaxed, unhurried way!

## How the charcoal-grilled aged meat tasted

After ordering, beautifully colored aged meat and charcoal arrive at the table. The best part of Jonggak-ap Nosang Gongyeong Juchajang! Staff grill the meat from start to finish with real care.

All I had to do was watch the meat turn golden brown over the charcoal — so easy. The smoky aroma soaked deep into the meat, so each bite was crisp outside and juicy inside. No gamey smell at all, just a chewy yet tender texture that was outstanding.

### Kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice

The crunchy texture of kkakdugi (radish kimchi) and its sweet-spicy seasoning cut through the richness of the meat completely. With a hint of smoky flavor, I kept going back for more.

### Steamed egg custard

A must-have side when dining with a kid! The egg custard we added passed the test just from its look — puffed up soft and fluffy over the top of the earthenware pot. Not too salty and wonderfully soft, it was perfect as a side dish for my child, and it also worked well as an appetizer before the meat finished cooking.

![Banban naengmyeon combining mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon](https://img.superchart.com/images/gogikkun-kimchunbae-jongno-family-outing/gogikkun-kimchunbae-jongno-family-outing-15-1kg3e-900.webp)

### Banban naengmyeon (half-and-half cold noodles)

No need to choose between mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) — this dish lets you enjoy both at once! Wrapping a piece of leftover meat with the refreshing, savory mul naengmyeon and the spicy bibim naengmyeon was a truly fantastic combination.

## Where to go after dinner: a Cheonggyecheon walk and Kyobo Bookstore in Gwanghwamun

After finishing the meal full and happy, we walked out to Cheonggyecheon stream, right near the Jonggak location. Listening to the gentle sound of the stream while chatting with my kid on the walk helped digestion and left us feeling refreshed. Walking straight up along the Cheonggyecheon path leads right to Kyobo Bookstore in Gwanghwamun.

We stopped by Kyobo Bookstore and spent time picking out storybooks my child loves along with a book I'd been wanting to read. Filling up on delicious grilled meat, healing with a walk along Cheonggyecheon, then finishing with some book shopping — the route flowed perfectly with no wasted steps. Highly recommend for a weekend outing!
