## In short

Iseol Myeonok Suyu Main Branch is a naengmyeon (cold noodle) and bulgogi restaurant on 4.19-ro in Gangbuk, Seoul. On a Monday visit at 7pm, Seoul-style old-fashioned bulgogi cost 19,000 won and mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) 12,000 won, and the broth arrived with a layer of ice that tasted better sipped plain, without vinegar or mustard. With a wide parking lot and generous space between tables, Iseol Myeonok works well for a family dinner.

## Seoul-style old-fashioned bulgogi, 19,000 won: what comes with it

We ordered Iseol Myeonok's signature dish, Seoul-style old-fashioned bulgogi, along with mul naengmyeon. Not long after ordering, a neat and generous spread was set on the table.

![Table spread with basic side dishes laid out](https://img.superchart.com/images/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi-12-9ml1x-966.webp)

The basic side dishes were mukjuk (acorn jelly in broth), japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), skate, kimchi, salad, corn, salad again, and pickled onions.

After the cool mukjuk had whetted our appetite, the main dish — bulgogi — arrived. 🍴 Piled high with bean sprouts, it looked absolutely delicious from the start.

![Seoul-style old-fashioned bulgogi piled high with bean sprouts](https://img.superchart.com/images/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi-15-fjja9-966.webp)

![Old-fashioned bulgogi simmering on the burner](https://img.superchart.com/images/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi-16-dq0qx-966.webp)

Simmered bubbling at the table, the bulgogi had a subtle smoky flavor with a sweet-and-salty sauce well soaked into the meat — really delicious. Bean sprouts, glass noodles, and mushrooms all mixed in with the meat, making it even more filling. As we ate, the broth ran a bit low, so we added more and enjoyed it with plenty of liquid.

Mixing rice into the bulgogi broth was so good that I ordered an extra bowl of rice.

While eating, I noticed other tables having galbi jjim (braised short ribs), and thought I should try that next time.

## Mul naengmyeon, 12,000 won: add vinegar and mustard, or not?

Iseol Myeonok's signature mul naengmyeon is ₩12,000, and to cut to the conclusion: it tasted much better without vinegar or mustard. While we were enjoying the bulgogi, the mul naengmyeon arrived too.

![Iseol Myeonok's signature mul naengmyeon](https://img.superchart.com/images/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi-20-9hq6z-966.webp)

I like bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed noodles) too, but this time I wanted to properly taste the noodle broth, so I ordered mul naengmyeon.

![Mul naengmyeon broth with a layer of ice and noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi/iseol-myeonok-suyu-cold-noodle-bulgogi-21-dmp01-966.webp)

There was vinegar and mustard on the table, but I tried the broth plain first. Served with a layer of ice, the broth was so cold it made my head tingle, yet it had a deep, clean flavor, and the noodles were chewy but soft.

Halfway through, I added a little vinegar and mustard, but honestly, it tasted better without them. Try comparing both ways yourself! After the rich, sweet bulgogi, a bite of naengmyeon cleaned the palate perfectly. This combination works well whether you come for lunch or, like us, for a family dinner in Suyu.

## Worth a second visit? Braised short ribs next time

If you're looking for a naengmyeon restaurant near 4.19 Tower in Suyu, I hope you get to try Iseol Myeonok Suyu Main Branch. The spacious parking lot made it easy to visit by car, and the fact that there were still customers on a weekday evening showed just how popular it is. With a clean store atmosphere and delicious bulgogi and mul naengmyeon, it was an all-around satisfying meal. It's the kind of place I'd want to return to whenever I'm craving naengmyeon and bulgogi — and next time, I'm definitely trying the galbi jjim I missed this time. 😊
