## Waltz and Dr. Mahn, a stop on the Namyangju Bukhan River drive

Waltz and Dr. Mahn is a large Bukhan River-view café on Bukhangang-ro in Joan-myeon, Namyangju. I was out for a day trip around Namyangju and found this gorgeous café right on the Bukhan River drive course, so I stopped by.

I'd wanted to come here for years but never got the chance. The coffee's good, the vibe is great, and even though it's a really old café, apparently it's still famous.

The exterior alone had so much character, and there was even a museum off to one side.

Waltz and Dr. Mahn's address is 경기 남양주시 조안면 북한강로 856-37 (삼봉리 272-6), and parking is free. Hours are 11:00–21:00 (last order 20:00) Saturday through Thursday, and 12:00–20:00 on Fridays.

Waltz and Dr. Mahn in Namyangju also has such a huge parking lot that I could park without any worry.

The outdoor tables sit right next to the Bukhan River view, taking it all in at a glance — the weather was so nice I thought the outdoor seating would have been a great choice too.

The atmosphere felt wonderful the moment I stepped in — classical music, a classic mood, and even vintage teacups everywhere. It really felt like every little prop had been carefully chosen.

The staff were so kind too, all dressed like they work at a hotel. It felt formal and attentive, like being properly hosted. Every seat was comfortable, and every single table had the Bukhan River view in sight, so I got some real healing in. For ordering, a staff member came right to the table, brought the menu, and took the order there.

This is the menu at Waltz and Dr. Mahn, a Namyangju café. Since it's famous for hand-drip, there seemed to be almost 20 kinds of hand-drip coffee. There were plenty of other tempting menu items too, and apparently all the bakery items are house-made.

- House Blend 14,000 won — a signature regular coffee with the traditional bitterness, sweetness, acidity and astringency delicately balanced
- Blue Mountain Coffee 20,000 won — from Jamaica, a Caribbean island nation, grown on its highest peak, Blue Mountain; a top-grade single-origin coffee with an exquisite balance of flavor and aroma
- Honor & Chevalier 18,000 won — Dutch coffee or cold milk layered with vanilla and chocolate ice cream, cheesecake, and seasonal fruit
- Lunch Course 75,000 won — scallop and shrimp appetizer with lemon sauce, soup, fresh seasonal salad, house wine, a chef's seasonal specialty dish, seasonal fruit, house-brand coffee
- Royal Course 200,000 won — the world's three great delicacies with wine pairing

I asked for ice water, and that's exactly what they brought me.

### Signature dessert: opera cake, 9,000 won

I ordered this since it's the signature dessert at Waltz and Dr. Mahn. It's described as a French-style cake layered with biscuit joconde, dark chocolate ganache, coffee buttercream and glaze, meant to evoke the seating of an opera house. The coffee aroma and chocolate flavor came together beautifully.

### Kilimanjaro AAA hand-drip coffee, 17,000 won

Kilimanjaro AAA is grown shade-grown in Machame, a small village near Moshi, the gateway city to Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro. It's said to be a limited-quantity Tanzanian coffee where the dryness of the soil and abundant rainfall balance perfectly, letting you taste a deep sense of the earth. The aroma and flavor were both great, so I'd love to try their other drip coffees next time!

### Honor & Chevalier, a parfait-like coffee for 18,000 won

This reminded me of the parfaits I used to eat as a kid, so I ordered it. You could choose between Dutch coffee and milk, and I went with Dutch coffee. It came piled with cheesecake, chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, grapefruit, orange, kiwi, grapes and more, plus a macaron — great to look at and great to eat.

That was my review of Waltz and Dr. Mahn, the Bukhan River-view café in Namyangju with a lovely atmosphere and delicious drinks.
