## In short

Mil Tteok Factory Main Branch is an instant tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cake) restaurant in the basement of Garosu-gil near Sinsa Station in Gangnam, Seoul. The writer ordered the best-selling BROWN brisket tteokbokki with 3 fritters, sweet potato cheese gratin, and an apple mango ade, then finished with self-made flying fish roe fried rice in the leftover sauce. The sweet gratin and refreshing mango ade balanced the spice nicely, making it a solid combo even for people who can't handle much heat.

You get to Mil Tteok Factory Main Branch by heading down to the basement from the entrance. There's a big tteokbokki sign outside, so it's easy to find.

## A basement spot that's surprisingly clean and pleasant

The interior is really pleasant and tidy overall, even though it's underground. You can tell they pay a lot of attention to keeping the place clean.

## How is the menu organized?

The menu is basically just the main tteokbokki, toppings, and sides. Tteokbokki comes in original, Toowoomba, jjajang, and brisket flavors, and the sides are super varied — fritters, cheese gratin, rice bowls, butter garlic fries, and more. What I liked best was that each menu item comes with detailed info like spice level and what toppings are included by default, which made it easy to see at a glance.

## BROWN brisket tteokbokki

![BROWN brisket tteokbokki with brisket, jjolmyeon, and ramen noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-tteokbokki-sweet-potato-gratin/garosugil-tteokbokki-sweet-potato-gratin-08-kazot-1200.webp)

I ordered the best-selling brisket tteokbokki. Besides the brisket, it comes with rice cake, fish cake, vegetables, ramen noodles, jjolmyeon noodles, and quail eggs as standard. The portion is this generous and it's priced for two people — such great value.

The rice cakes were really chewy, and unlike a lot of tteokbokki places where the rice cake ends up bland because the sauce doesn't soak in, every single topping here was well coated in sauce. There's also a generous amount of ramen and jjolmyeon noodles inside, so it's filling — Mil Tteok Factory is perfect for a hearty meal on Garosu-gil 😋

The sauce wasn't overly spicy either, just the right level of spicy-sweet, so even kids could eat it without worry, haha. I also ordered the fritters and dipped them in the sauce — they went great together, sweet and delicious.

## 3 fritters

I ordered a variety of fritters, the kind that reminded me of the tteokbokki shops in the markets when I was a kid. They were crispy all around, so they were tasty even on their own. Fritters really are the best side dish when eating tteokbokki, haha.

## Sweet potato cheese gratin

![Sweet potato cheese gratin piled high with cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-tteokbokki-sweet-potato-gratin/garosugil-tteokbokki-sweet-potato-gratin-10-571b0-900.webp)

Usually places put cheese on top of the tteokbokki itself, but here they sell a whole side dish that's not just cheese but a sweet potato cheese gratin, so I had to try it!

Cheese was piled generously on top of mousse-like sweet sweet potato, and it was so nutty and delicious. Since the tteokbokki is spicy, eating this alongside it tames the heat, so it's one of the dishes I'd recommend for people who can't handle spice well, haha.

## Flying fish roe fried rice (self-made)

At Mil Tteok Factory, if you order the fried rice, you cook it yourself in the leftover sauce! The amount of rice is just right, and honestly making it yourself is nice because you can adjust the rice depending on how much sauce is left, haha.

## Apple mango ade

![A large-sized glass of apple mango ade](https://img.superchart.com/images/garosugil-tteokbokki-sweet-potato-gratin/garosugil-tteokbokki-sweet-potato-gratin-11-1lj3s-900.webp)

Lastly, the mango ade that surprised me with its huge size. The volume is big enough for two people to share, and the mango is sweet and refreshing, so it went really well alongside the spicy tteokbokki.

Everything was satisfying overall, so I get why it's such a popular tteokbokki spot near Gangnam Station, haha. I'd recommend Mil Tteok Factory as an instant tteokbokki spot for a date course on Garosu-gil! Thanks for the meal today 🍀
