## Where is Baekok Myeongdong?

Baekok Myeongdong is a Korean restaurant serving pork gomtang (pork bone soup), occupying the basement and first floor of 8-23 Myeongdong 8-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. It's open daily 11:00–22:00, and there's no parking available.

The directions led me somewhere weird ㅠㅠ It took me down an alley like something out of a crime movie, but there was this one sign glowing like a comic book panel

I walked in like I was hypnotized haha

## Solo bar seats and table seating at Baekok Myeongdong

Baekok Myeongdong has solo bar seats that are great for eating alone. Maybe because it's a lunch spot, there were bar seats too, and since they're against the wall, I could prop my phone up without a stand and watch videos while eating!

The hall had a variety of seating, from regular tables to comfy seats you could lean back into haha

There was a poster with a warm little message on it,, but it made me think — Euljiro and Myeongdong both seem to have a lot of restaurants with 'baek' in the name!

## How QR ordering and pay-on-exit work

Baekok Myeongdong uses a QR code attached to each table for ordering, but payment isn't made at the time of ordering — you have to pay on your way out!

You scan the QR code on the left labeled 'order by QR' and order through the site. They even linked a review event site through QR too, for convenience

Everything you need for eating gomtang (bone soup) was all set up already

## Baekok Myeongdong menu and prices

This is Baekok's menu! All the gomtang dishes come in size options, and there seem to be mild / soy sauce / spicy styles -!!

With all these size options and such a neat, proper meal lineup, I thought it was the kind of place you could come to anytime and leave full and satisfied

And oh, the cups were just too cute,, I think I always pay extra attention when a place has cups with the store name on them — it just gets me

Kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) is a must with gomtang, and it tasted properly classic — I loved it!

## How did the medium pork gomtang and chilled sliced pork taste?

What I ordered that day was two medium pork gomtangs for ₩22,000, and cold pork slices for ₩10,000. I got the milky white pork gomtang and thinly sliced cold pork slices haha

![Table spread of Baekok Myeongdong's pork gomtang and cold pork slices](https://img.superchart.com/images/baekok-myeongdong-pork-gomtang-counter-seat/baekok-myeongdong-pork-gomtang-counter-seat-15-sipty-1200.webp)

The visuals are amazing, right. It came out faster than I expected, and even though I ordered the medium size, it was huge! Big bowl, generous portion too

![Close-up of the large medium-size pork gomtang bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/baekok-myeongdong-pork-gomtang-counter-seat/baekok-myeongdong-pork-gomtang-counter-seat-16-1rcpm-900.webp)

The cold pork slices came with lime to squeeze on top, which cut through any gamey smell and made it taste even better — it felt totally different from the meat in the soup, so it didn't get repetitive, you know? And the texture was great to begin with — properly moist, not tough, nice and chewy, perfect as a side dish. Topped with the jeotgal (salted seafood) that came with it, it felt like eating bossam (boiled pork wraps) while making kimchi — it was so good

![Plate of cold pork slices with lime and jeotgal](https://img.superchart.com/images/baekok-myeongdong-pork-gomtang-counter-seat/baekok-myeongdong-pork-gomtang-counter-seat-17-tfdd0-900.webp)

The soup had a clear broth with a deep, spicy-ish flavor, and I found it even tastier after piling on the black pepper! Since the gomtang itself already comes seasoned, I think the pepper they had on the table was a milder blend prepared specially for that — sprinkling it on didn't make things salty, it just brought out this rush of savoriness that went really well with the soup haha

The rice portion was generous too, so I left having had a really satisfying meal. How should I put it — it wasn't harsh or overpowering, but it warmed me up and settled my stomach! There was no gamey smell either, so my satisfaction was high

![Mouthwash, floss, and candy set out at the counter](https://img.superchart.com/images/baekok-myeongdong-pork-gomtang-counter-seat/baekok-myeongdong-pork-gomtang-counter-seat-18-1rmwd-900.webp)

## Is Baekok Myeongdong worth a second visit?

Even by the counter, they had mouthwash, floss, and candy neatly displayed. It's the kind of thoughtful place that made me want to come back again >.<

Even though it's a restaurant tucked away in an alley, people kept streaming in, so it seemed like it was already a well-known spot. Everyone, you should all try it ,, 😍
