## In short

Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong is a Japanese pot rice and tonkatsu restaurant on the B1 level of Tera Tower A-dong, right by Munjeong Station Exit 3 in Songpa, Seoul. Craving Japanese food while her Korean-food-loving mom came along, the writer ordered the spring greens wild sea bream pot rice with tonkatsu set (21,900 won) and a hire katsu (15,000 won), arriving at 11:30 to find even the bar seats taken. Gome Mui is the rare lunch spot where two people with opposite cravings can eat together without an argument.

I had some business at Munjeong Tera Tower recently and went with my mom, and when it came time for lunch we hit a snag — I was craving Japanese food, but my mom is a Korean food lover through and through. While we were stuck debating where to go,

I found a Munjeong Tera Tower spot that could satisfy both of us at once!!!!! Let me introduce Gome Mui — a Munjeong Station Tera Tower restaurant where you can enjoy tonkatsu and premium pot rice together, an easy lunch recommendation!

## Inside Gome Mui: a full house and a waitlist at 11:30

We arrived at Gome Mui at 11:30 and even the bar seats were already full. Stepping inside, the place is done up in warm wood interiors with unique-looking lighting fixtures that really stand out!

There's a bar table for solo diners, plus 2-seat and 4-seat tables. Honestly, I figured a popular lunch spot would get crowded at peak time, but we still nearly ended up waiting even though we showed up around 11:30..!!!

![Gome Mui tables fully booked during lunch hour](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-08-13zq9-900.webp)

Luckily one seat opened up right as we arrived, and we grabbed it — after that, customers kept streaming in and a line formed. Getting seated right away, so lucky, me.

There are waiting seats and a sign-up sheet set up right in front of the restaurant, which made it clear this is already a well-known lunch spot among the office workers around Munjeong Station Tera Tower...!

## Gome Mui menu: what my mom and I ordered

At Gome Mui we ordered the spring greens and wild sea bream pot rice with tonkatsu set (₩21,900) and a hire katsu (₩15,000). Fitting for a Munjeong Tera Tower favorite, Gome Mui is apparently known for its pot rice, made with premium-grade rice plus rice koji to boost the flavor.

![Sign explaining Gome Mui's pot rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-11-prqd8-900.webp)

![Menu board showing pot rice and tonkatsu dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-12-18y29-900.webp)

There were plenty of pot rice options, and my mom chose the popular spring greens and wild sea bream pot rice! But pot rice alone felt like it was missing something... so we made sure not to miss out and ordered the set that comes with tonkatsu too!

![Order screen for the set menu at Gome Mui](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-13-10atx-900.webp)

So in the end we confidently ordered the spring greens wild sea bream pot rice tonkatsu set (₩21,900) and a hire katsu (₩15,000) ^^*

### Spring greens wild sea bream pot rice with tonkatsu set (21,900 won)

The moment it hit the table, the visuals were already stunning — fragrant spring greens blanketed the rice like a quilt,

![Full spread of the spring greens wild sea bream pot rice tonkatsu set](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-14-1yjr8-900.webp)

![Wild sea bream pot rice topped with spring greens](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-15-vb05m-900.webp)

and on top sat a thick, golden-seared piece of wild sea bream, generously sized...!

They kindly explain how to eat it, too.

- First, use your spoon to break up the rice and sea bream in the pot
- Mix everything together evenly and scoop it into your bowl
- Pour hot tea into what's left in the pot to make a nutty nurungji (scorched rice) tea — this part is a real highlight, haha

Topping it with the restaurant's signature garlic scape sauce adds a crunchy texture, and the way it plays off the clean, savory pot rice is honestly insane, in the best way.

It's also great wrapped in seaweed, and if you pile on the pollack roe and salted fish roe side dishes, you get a salty, different-but-delicious flavor.

Every single grain of rice was loaded with the deep umami of the sea bream and the flavor of the greens — honestly crazy good, haha.

![Sea bream pot rice scooped into a bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-18-1dc9y-900.webp)

The crisp tonkatsu that came with it paired beautifully with the pot rice, too. And once you finish off the nutty nurungji tea that formed while you eat, you totally get why people wait in line here.

### Hire katsu (15,000 won): pork loin cutlet at Gome Mui

What is this hire katsu visual??????? Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside — the textbook definition, seriously.

![Cross-section of Gome Mui's hire katsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-19-1tibs-1200.webp)

The outside is truly crunchy, and the inside is a moist, rosy pink, packed with juice, ugh.

![A piece of hire katsu showing its rosy pink center](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-20-av19c-900.webp)

No other sauce needed — it's delicious with just a touch of wasabi and a dip in salt,

![Hire katsu served with wasabi and salt](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-21-148kg-900.webp)

and dipped in tonkatsu sauce it's clean but savory, with the juices spreading through every bite. I traded a piece with my mom to try hers... and she stole it back (a Korean-food lover now converted into a full-on Japanese food lover too).

## Is Gome Mui worth it? A lunch spot when your tastes don't match

Gome Mui uses fresh seasonal ingredients plus salt-koji aging, and you can tell how much care goes into every dish..!

![Gome Mui's pot rice and tonkatsu table spread](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-22-10flk-900.webp)

Beyond the crispy tonkatsu and hearty, healthy pot rice, they also serve soba, curry, udon, and more — so there's no need to fight over the menu.

![Close-up of Gome Mui's tonkatsu plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap/gourmet-mui-munjeong-lunch-donkatsu-sotbap-23-bm0cj-900.webp)

It's immediately clear why office workers are willing to wait in line during their precious lunch hour to eat here...

Confirmed: a real Munjeong Station Tera Tower gem. The mazemen also looked popular, so next time I'll have to go demolish that, haha.
