## In short

Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang is a snow crab and sashimi restaurant on the crab alley of Jukdo Market in Pohang, run by the same family for more than 30 years across two generations. A couple came on a Saturday evening and ordered the bakdal snow crab set for two at 130,000 won, which brought abalone porridge, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), clam soup, a sashimi platter and soy-marinated crab while the crab was steaming, then finished with crab roe fried rice and seafood ramyeon. As long as you know that only imported bakdal crab is sold during the domestic fishing ban, Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang is a full table that feels worth the price.

## Where is Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang, and what are its hours?

Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang (갈릴리대게회식당) is a crab and sashimi restaurant at 35 Jukdosijang-gil, Buk-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, on the crab alley of Jukdo Market. It's open daily 09:30–22:30 with last order at 20:30. Parking is available, groups are welcome, takeout is possible, and corkage is allowed — you can also get the first hour free at Jukdo Market Parking Lot 1.

I went to Pohang to eat bakdal crab :) When you try to eat crab at tourist spots the price can get pretty steep, so I heard that the restaurants on Jukdo Market's crab alley in Pohang have reasonable prices and generous side dishes on top of the crab, so I decided to check it out.

The place we visited was Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang. It's been run by the same family for over 30 years across two generations, which gave me even more confidence. Since you're going specifically for crab, how long a place has been running matters more than you'd think.

## Why only imported bakdal crab during the fishing ban

At the time of our visit, though, it was the fishing ban season so there was no domestic bakdal crab — only imported. We'd been hoping for domestic bakdal crab, but unfortunately this can change depending on the season, so it's worth keeping in mind.

![Shrimp and crab in the tank](https://img.superchart.com/images/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee-05-a1thi-966.webp)

There were shrimp in the tanks too, and the crabs seemed well looked after. And here's what I liked — after you pick your crab, they weigh the basket right in front of you to show it's fair. They told us they wouldn't sell out their conscience for business, which really built trust.

We visited around 7pm on a Saturday and it was packed. There were lots of families and groups especially — it seemed like a popular spot for people searching for good crab in Jukdo Market, Pohang. Also, if you mention you found the place through a blog or Instagram search, they apparently give you drinks or other extras, so make sure to mention it if you visit :)

## Ordering the bakdal snow crab set for two at 130,000 won

I took a photo of the menu too! We originally wanted to order the domestic bakdal crab set, but since it was the fishing ban season they said they weren't catching domestic bakdal crab, so we ordered the bakdal crab set for two instead. It cost ₩130,000. I thought it'd just be crab, but as you'll see below, the amount of food that comes as standard side dishes is really impressive.

![Abalone porridge served as a base dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee-11-9f834-966.webp)

## What comes with the set, from abalone porridge to crab cream toast

First, they served abalone porridge as a base dish. The warm porridge settled our stomachs before we really got into it.

Ssamjang (dipping sauce), garlic, white kimchi and broccoli also came out. And here's something surprising — a crab-meat cream sauce with sliced bread. Spreading cream sauce on bread was a first for me, and it worked better than expected — a nice little treat. Great as something light to eat before diving into the crab.

Corn kernels came out too.

From leafy greens to quail eggs, beondegi (silkworm pupae), and peanuts, they had a wide variety ready.

![Mulhoe served as a side dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee-13-q0khg-966.webp)

And then mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and clam soup came too! At a crab restaurant you're not just eating crab — so many dishes come out that the table keeps filling up in a fun way.

![Clam soup and side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee-14-1p9t0-966.webp)

Sweet potato fritters and horaegi (baby squid) came out as well.

Abalone, sea squirt, conch, and seasoned mushrooms — so much variety.

Soy-marinated crab, seasoned raw fish, and carrot salad rounded it out.

### The surprise of the meal: soy-marinated crab

The soy-marinated crab was especially delicious. The roe was rich and the meat was packed full — so good I seriously considered paying extra for more, haha. Coming for crab and stumbling onto soy-marinated crab this good felt like an unexpected bonus.

Here's the whole spread laid out! I wanted to show just how much came out, so I took a bird's-eye shot for the first time in a while haha. For ₩130,000, all these side dishes on top of the crab — pretty generous, right? It was nice having so much to eat while waiting for the crab.

And since we were in Pohang, we ordered the local soju too. Turns out Pohang's local soju is Cham Soju. Traveling with my husband is when I feel happiest. Sitting down to a great spread of food and clinking glasses together — that's part of the fun of traveling too, haha.

### The sashimi platter served while the crab steams

Then the assorted sashimi platter came out — amberjack and sea bream! It was nice being able to eat sashimi while waiting for the bakdal crab to arrive. If you're just waiting for crab alone, time can feel like it drags, but with food constantly coming out, it was easy to take it slow with a drink. We polished off a whole bottle of soju before the bakdal crab even showed up, haha.

## How much meat was in the bakdal snow crab?

And finally, the bakdal crab we'd been waiting for arrived. Wow — it really looked substantial! Since we'd come all the way to Pohang for crab, seeing the main dish finally arrive got us properly excited.

![Steamed bakdal crab](https://img.superchart.com/images/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee/pohang-jukdo-market-crab-galilee-20-hw9yv-966.webp)

They even steamed two shrimp for us as a free extra! I love this kind of service, haha. Being able to eat shrimp along with the crab made the meal feel even more generous.

The crab legs came pre-cracked and ready to eat, which was great. Prepping crab yourself can be a hassle, so having it done for us meant we could dig straight into the meat.

The claws in particular were plump, and the meat looked so packed in that it made your mouth water just looking at it.

But above all, I felt the bakdal crab's meat yield was really excellent. The meat was packed solid and satisfying to eat — after tasting it, I understood why so many people seek out bakdal crab over regular snow crab. If you love crab, bakdal crab is definitely worth trying at least once.

## Finishing with crab roe fried rice and seafood ramyeon

And after eating crab, you can't skip this — crab roe fried rice! We ordered it right away to eat together. Making fried rice with the leftover roe in the shell feels like the proper way to finish a crab meal. We also saved a bit of crab meat and soy-marinated crab to mix in, which made for a rich, filling finish.

And this is the seafood ramyeon given to customers who sign up for Naver notifications. Normally you'd get spicy stew, but we finished with seafood ramyeon instead. The chewy noodles and seafood made for a broth that was clean and delicious. After crab, fried rice, and finally seafood ramyeon, we were completely full.

## Is the 130,000 won crab set for two worth it?

The restrooms were separated by gender inside the restaurant, which made things convenient. Overall, it was a clean, comfortable place to eat within the crab alley of Jukdo Market in Pohang. Most of all, for ₩130,000 we got bakdal crab along with sashimi, mulhoe, and soy-marinated seafood crab — a fairly satisfying meal overall. If you want to eat crab in Pohang but find prices intimidating, or if you want a generous spread of crab plus various seafood, Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang is worth a visit. The owner was kind too — I'd definitely recommend it. :)
