## In short

Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch is a handmade hambak (hamburg steak) and pork cutlet restaurant on the 2nd floor of Orange-dong at Avenuefrance in Baegot, Siheung, Gyeonggi. On a drive out to Oido, a couple stopped in for garlic cream hambak and handmade pork cutlet with extra spicy sauce, and the side order of croquettes arrived with six pieces. With free tteokbokki before the meal and one refill, Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch filled them up for just over 10,000 won — great value for a western-style lunch.

> Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch

My wife and I were out on an Oido drive when we got a sudden craving for something Western-style. Rather than something heavy, I looked for a casual Baegot pasta spot and ended up going for lunch at Jeongssi Hambak, famous for its hand-made hamburg steak. It's known for doing pork cutlet and pasta just as well, so we went in with confidence.

## Why we keep returning to Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch on the Oido drive

![View of Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch on the 2nd floor of Orange-dong, Avenuefrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-02-1f6w0-966.webp)

We've stopped by a few times while driving around Oido — my wife and I weren't originally big hamburg steak eaters, but after trying it here we started coming back often.

Oido Beach, Okgu Park, and shopping malls are all nearby, so it's a perfect stop before or after a drive.

The retro vibe of an old-school Western-style diner brings back the familiar feeling of the pork cutlet places I used to go with my parents as a kid.

I once brought my parents here too, and they loved the atmosphere. It works just as well for dates as it does for a family meal out.

## Retro interior, free tteokbokki and the side dishes at Jeongssi Hambak

They serve water in nostalgic Del Monte glass bottles, and even the cups are the kind you'd get at a snack bar near school — definitely committing to the retro concept.

One of the fun things about this Baegot restaurant is that tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) comes free before the meal — and you can even get a second bowl, for two bowls total.

![A bowl of tteokbokki served free before the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-06-1lznn-966.webp)

It's honestly tastier than a lot of dedicated tteokbokki restaurants, which is why most people go for the refill. It's good enough that they actually sell it as a standalone menu item too.

![Kimchi side dish served with the Western-style meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-07-1lp2m-966.webp)

Most Western-style restaurants just give you pickles, but for a Korean palate, kimchi on the side really makes the meal feel complete.

The spread includes house-made kkakdugi, spicy jalapeños, and cool crunchy pickles — all refreshing between bites.

## What does the signature garlic cream hambak taste like?

![Full table setting of the garlic cream hambak at Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-09-cdlw5-1200.webp)

My wife ordered the garlic cream hambak, the signature hambak with garlic sauce added. There are plenty of variations — rosé, Toowoomba, mozzarella cheese, omurice, and more.

![Plate of garlic cream hambak topped with a hand-made patty](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-10-mzjqt-966.webp)

Since Jeongssi Hambak makes its patties and sauces fresh in-house every day, the taste and quality were clearly a cut above.

![Garlic hambak sauce with bacon and cream](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-11-1nwqr-966.webp)

This was our first time trying the garlic hambak sauce, and the savory blend of bacon and cream sauce paired beautifully with the juicy steak.

![Garlic cream hambak with fried egg on top and rice underneath](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-12-wq0ac-966.webp)

There's a fried egg on top and rice underneath, so you can enjoy the hamburg steak on its own or mix the rice into the garlic sauce — both are great.

Hamburg steak, being a classic Western dish, can get greasy fast, but oddly enough, this one made us want more with every bite.

The flavor wasn't overly strong, and the thick patty — made from ground whole cuts of meat — had a great balance of clean flavor and juicy richness.

## Handmade pork cutlet with extra spicy sauce, chosen over pasta

![Plate of hand-breaded pork cutlet at Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-14-1xctp-966.webp)

I was debating pasta but went for pork cutlet instead, since it had been a while. Jeongssi Hambak does pork cutlet just as well as its hamburg steak.

![Close-up of hand-breaded pork cutlet drizzled with sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-15-lnov0-966.webp)

The menu here is consistently high quality, priced in the low ₩10,000s, and generous in portion — genuinely great value.

![Pork cutlet set with fried egg, fries, rice, and salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-16-jj4zc-966.webp)

The thick hand-breaded pork cutlet comes with a fried egg, fries, rice, and salad — a set so hearty even one grown man might struggle to finish it.

You'd think they might cut costs by pounding the meat thin, but when you cut into it, the whole cut is clearly left intact — impressive.

The house sauce, already drizzled on, works as an all-purpose sauce — great for dipping the cutlet or mixing with rice.

![Spicy sauce added to the pork cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-17-4g28i-966.webp)

I wanted a spicier kick, so I paid extra for the spicy sauce add-on. It brings a bit of a tingling heat to your mouth.

I came in planning on Baegot pasta but switched to pork cutlet on a whim — and I left completely satisfied.

## The croquette side dish: six pieces on one plate

![Plate of croquettes ordered as a side](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-19-1hqyh-966.webp)

One dish per person was already filling, and with two rounds of the free tteokbokki, we technically didn't need a side — but the croquettes looked tempting so we ordered them anyway.

![Freshly fried, crispy croquettes](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch/jungssi-hambak-baegot-oido-drive-lunch-21-jnuim-966.webp)

True to a good-value Baegot restaurant, they were cheap, so we expected maybe three or four — but six came out, which genuinely surprised us. The portion was generous enough to fill you up on its own.

Inside the crispy coating was a hearty mash of potato and vegetables, freshly fried and still quite hot.
