Of course, this review includes things I paid for myself~ Haenon Miyeok Ilsan Direct Branch (해논미역 일산직영점), serving seaweed soup in Goyang’s Ilsan! I didn’t know this, but apparently every Haenon Miyeok location is directly operated! It’s an Anigol favorite, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for Korean food there. I recently had a ₩14,000 bowl of seaweed soup somewhere else, and it came with maybe three side dishes, so I thought it was way too expensive and such a waste of moneyㅠㅠ But Haenon Miyeok is around ₩20,000, and the banchan (Korean side dishes) are on the level of a full Korean set course, so my satisfaction was off the charts!!!!! I guess you’d call it indirect lighting? They used it so brilliantly, and gentle instrumental music plays continuously in this kind of setting. The seasoning was just so~ nice. It’s a flavor everyone, young and old, would keep reaching for hahaha. As soon as I tried it, I asked my mom to make it exactly like thisㅠ Then she said Grandma told her she’d have to be planted in the kitchen to pull that off hahahahahahahahaha And this scallop muchim (seasoned scallop salad) was incredible too... The scallops were an out-of-this-world size, and if you put it over rice, you could probably finish a bowl of rice with this alone? Since the basic sides come out at a full-set-course level like this, the thought of paying ₩20,000 for seaweed soup completely disappears......... Truly, I didn’t begrudge a single wonㅠㅠ It isn’t just that there are lots of side dishes; every one was delicious. Haenon Miyeok doesn’t serve soup that has been cooked ahead; they say each one is cooked as soon as you order, so of course it has to be delicious. Rice with what looked like hijiki seaweed(?) comes with it too! The serving of rice looked like an elementary-school portion, so I thought it was too small and that I’d definitely need a refill. But the ttukbaegi of soup was so big, and the seaweed seemed to expand inside me, that I got so full I couldn’t even refill the rice. That’s how important kimchi is to me with seaweed soup, and this kimchi was neither too fresh nor too fermented—it was so~ delicious that I refilled it without question. I’m an extreme beef-seaweed-soup person, so I wondered how it would be, but the flounder flesh was so, so tender that it was really good. Having it served whole like that made it especially satisfying to eat~~ The scallop seaweed soup was packed with scallops too. But since scallop muchim comes as a basic side, ordering this one feels a tiny bit like a loss(?) hahahahaha. Whether you choose scallop, flounder, dried pollock, or beef, though, I don’t think you’ll regret any of them... I was the person who said, “You pay that much to eat seaweed soup?” I was the person who thought seaweed soup only tastes good when you make a huge pot of it!!!!! The basic sides are on the level of a Goyang Korean set-course restaurant, so that says it all, and the seaweed soup quality is exceptional without question!!! The atmosphere is every bit as wonderful as the food, so don’t think of this as simply buying a bowl of seaweed soup—think of it as going out for a nourishing meal.
