The table was so full it was hard to fit it all in one shot at Jaecheoldameun Mapo Bada ⛱️ this Daeheung-dong sashimi restaurant opened on 09/02/26! Congratulations~🎉 It's only been open a few days but already had plenty of reservations. Glad there's one more good restaurant and bar in Daeheung-dong — I'll definitely be coming back for fresh sashimi and a drink 🍶.

Too much to even list, too busy eating to keep up ^^ Is this what they mean by "the table legs about to break"? Even a birthday or feast table couldn't come out like this. Haven't seen a spread like this in a while 😂

## Mixed seafood — raw scallops, sea cucumber, sea squirt, abalone

🐙 The mixed seafood came out first — raw scallops, sea cucumber, sea squirt, abalone ~♧ my favorite mixed seafood combo 💕 First time trying raw scallop, and it had zero fishy taste, just pure freshness and nutty flavor ☆☆☆

The sea cucumber wasn't too tough when chewed, still had that pleasant crunch and softness. Abalone and sea squirt were, of course, super fresh 👍

At Jaecheoldameun Mapo Bada, even the service bell sounds like a ship's horn~ 🤣

Dipping the fresh seafood in vinegar-chili sauce brought out that sea aroma, and the sesame oil on the live octopus made it more savory the more you chewed~ ⛱️ Felt like they brought the ocean right here~

## Cold boiled pork with wild chervil, even my kid ate it up

🍃 Cold boiled pork with wild chervil salad. The combination works really well. The slightly sharp chervil flavor really rounds out the pork ~♤♤ Isn't this dish practically calling for soju? Daeheung-dong restaurant and bar, confirmed~

I wondered if cold boiled pork might have a pork smell since it's served chilled, but there was none at all, and even my kid ate it happily~ Seems like the kitchen boiled the meat well to remove any odor~^^

Fragrant chervil and cold boiled pork. I always thought boiled pork should be eaten warm, but this cold version would be great in summer. I should try making it at home in the summer.

## 20 live salt-grilled shrimp, flipped by the owner

🦐 Live salt-grilled shrimp, 20 of them. I saw fresh shrimp swimming around in the tank near the entrance... were these the ones? 🤣 Even to the eye, they were basically saying "I'm fresh!!!"

Right when I thought they might be done, the owner came over and said it was time to flip them and did it herself. Really appreciated the attention to detail even while busy~

Not just fresh, but big too, easy to peel. Shrimp that's been sitting around gets mealy, but these had plump, tender flesh since they were just caught ///

Can you see how plump the shrimp meat is? My husband peeled them diligently and put them on my plate, and I just kept eating~ 🤦 😂 I need to eat other things too, but focused on shrimp first~

Couldn't fit it all in one photo so I panned the phone for a gif~ swing~ swing~ but there's still more to come~ 👀

## Four grilled autumn gizzard shad

🐠 Gizzard shad. Is this the autumn gizzard shad they say could bring a runaway daughter-in-law back home?? The smell of it grilling was so good, I get it now — that fish is right here. Scored for shape and grilled to a nice golden brown, looked even more appetizing***

Tastes like something between mackerel and saury ~ first time having something like this~ Really distinctive fish/ My husband kept tearing off more and more~ They gave us exactly four, one per person, so no fighting over it~ everyone shared nicely~

## Side dishes — steamed egg, tofu kimchi, three kinds of fried food

🥚 Steamed egg. Came as a standard side dish but still filled a big earthenware bowl~~ Silky smooth and perfectly seasoned as always~

🌟 Tofu kimchi. Can't have drinks without it~ The stir-fried kimchi was well made, and paired with tofu in one bite, the soju just flows~

Funny how so many people specifically ask for tofu kimchi when drinking. They clearly thought about that too~ Even at home, one plate of tofu kimchi is enough for a good drink 👍

Three kinds of fried food came out for the kids too~ My kid ate it right up~ The batter was crispy and the vegetables inside were sweet. Shrimp, carrot, all good~/

Even better dipped in tartar sauce, and the batter wasn't too thick so it stayed crispy~ Would be great for kids especially~

## Abalone innard porridge and sushi served midway through

🐚 Abalone innard porridge. Why does this porridge feel so carefully made? Enough for four people, with a good amount of abalone in it~ Made with the innards, so it's rich and savory, and we scraped the bowl clean.

🍣 Sushi. Comes out partway through the meal. We were too busy eating everything else to touch it, but the owner came by and told us to eat it right away for the best taste.. so we did quickly 😃

Dipped in wasabi soy sauce, the sashimi was chewy yet soft going down~ Every single dish here shows care and flavor 👍

## Leave the shrimp heads and they'll fry them for you

Once you're done with the salt-grilled shrimp, leave the heads and they'll take them away and fry them for you~ So don't throw those shrimp heads away!///

## Six kinds of fresh sashimi — I finally get rockfish

🎣 Fresh live sashimi. Halibut, rockfish, sea bream, oil eye, gizzard shad, raw shrimp — six kinds. Looks so appetizing, the plating is clean and you can tell each piece was carefully arranged.

The slices weren't thin at all, cut thick and piled generously~ Freshness goes without saying, and the more you chew, the more clean and nutty it tastes~ I never really liked rockfish before, but wow, how can it be this chewy? Thanks to Jaecheoldameun Mapo Bada, I finally get what rockfish is about.. ☺️

Wrapping the fresh sashimi in perilla leaves naturally makes you crave a drink 🥃 Whenever that craving hits, I should head to a Daeheung-dong restaurant and bar~
