## In short

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a 24-hour gukbap (Korean soup) restaurant on Ogeum-ro in Songpa, Seoul. On a rainy day at lunch, two people ordered the pork jowl set (₩18,000 × 2) and shared thinly sliced pork jowl, three kinds of sundae (blood sausage), and a spicy pork jowl gukbap loaded with dadaegi chili paste, all in one table setting. It's a filling lunch choice near Jamsil Station for days when you want both boiled meat and soup in one sitting.

I was looking for a hearty lunch spot near Jamsil, searching for gukbap in Bangi-dong, and ended up at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch. Since it's open 24 hours, it was convenient to visit anytime, and I ended up ordering the pork jowl set, which lets you enjoy both gukbap and boiled meat at once.

It turned out to be a solid lunch pick near Jamsil Station, so here's my review.

- 📍 A Jamsil Station favorite, Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch — 101 Ogeum-ro, 1st floor, Songpa-gu, Seoul

I came by bus, and the restaurant was right in front of the stop I got off at, so it was easy to reach. It's also close to Jamsil Station, the Bangi-dong restaurant alley, and Seokchon Lake, making it a good stop during a Jamsil date or outing.

## Restaurant atmosphere, seating, and an umbrella stand on a rainy day

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch sits along the main road, and the sign along with the 24-hour marking are easy to spot from outside.

![Umbrella stand next to the counter](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set-06-1tkl3-900.webp)

Next to the counter, there was an umbrella stand ready. First time I've seen a restaurant with an umbrella stand haha. Since it happened to be raining, it was surprisingly useful.

Inside, there were partitioned table seats as well as window-side single seats.

The table seating was pretty generous too, so it looked good for solo diners, couples, or larger groups.

The restrooms are separated by gender, which made them easy to use.

## Menu and ordering the pork jowl set for two

![Menu board listing set meals and hot pot dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set-11-k6gur-900.webp)

Since I'd been searching for gukbap in Bangi-dong, I was curious about the menu too. There was a wide range, from sundae gukbap and boiled pork gukbap to pork jowl gukbap, along with set meals and hot pot dishes.

![Set meal composition information](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set-12-1n9an-900.webp)

The set meals come with both gukbap and boiled meat, are available for 2 or more people, and menu items can be mixed. Since we wanted both gukbap and boiled meat, we ordered the pork jowl set for two.

You can order easily using the kiosk at the table.

- Pork jowl set ₩18,000 × 2 people
- Total ₩36,000

## The pork jowl set spread: boiled meat and three kinds of sundae

![Basic side dishes including kimchi, kkakdugi, and salted shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set-14-sb8dm-900.webp)

The basic side dishes were kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), chives, salted shrimp, and a soy sauce dip for the boiled meat.

![Pot filled with pork jowl, chives, and sundae](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set-15-1ufzy-900.webp)

The pork jowl came out first, with thinly sliced pork jowl, chives, and sundae all together — it looked generous at a glance.

Since the boiled meat can get salty if the broth reduces too much from over-boiling, I turned off the heat once the chives were just barely cooked, and it was just right!

![A thin slice of pork jowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set-16-1av14-900.webp)

The thinly sliced pork jowl had no gamey smell, was tender and moist, and paired with the milky broth, it was clean and light to eat. I also ate the lightly cooked chives from the broth along with the meat, and the subtle chive aroma went really well with it.

The sundae came in three kinds: vegetable sundae, blood sundae, and glutinous rice sundae.

From the chewy glutinous rice sundae to the densely packed blood sundae, the different textures made it fun to try one by one.

It was good dipped straight into soy sauce, or with a bit of salted shrimp on top, which added a salty note that paired well with the sundae.

## Pork jowl gukbap, ordered with the dadaegi chili paste as is

Next came the pork jowl gukbap! The gukbap comes with dadaegi chili paste and perilla powder by default. If you don't want them, you can ask to leave them out when ordering. Since we wanted it spicy, we ordered it with the dadaegi as is.

With the gukbap bubbling away, we piled on plenty of chives and stirred in the perilla powder, and a nutty aroma rose right up.

Inside, the meat was much more generous than I expected, and the broth was plentiful too, making for a hearty bowl.

Taking a spoonful of broth first, it was spicy and piping hot — perfect for a rainy day.

![Close-up of the spicy gukbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set-22-19k3g-900.webp)

At the end, we mixed in rice and finished off the broth completely.

The portion was generous enough for a filling lunch, and I think it would also pair well with a drink over a hot bowl in the evening. Now that the weather's cooling down, I think I'll be craving this kind of gukbap even more as fall and winter set in.

I filmed the bubbling pork jowl set spread on video!

## Wrap-up — a 24-hour gukbap restaurant near Jamsil Station

![Signature photo of the pork jowl set at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set/bosung-hoegwan-bangi-hangjeong-suyuk-set-24-5qkbc-1200.webp)

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch was a good spot for a hearty gukbap meal near Jamsil Station. Since it's open 24 hours, it would also work well as an early breakfast stop near Lotte Hotel World or Seokchon Lake, or a late-night visit when you're craving hot soup.

The pork jowl set came with boiled meat, sundae, and gukbap all together, and it was genuinely filling by the end. The boiled meat was tender with no gamey smell, and paired with the spicy gukbap, it felt like a proper full meal. I'd like to come back and try the other gukbap menu items next time.
