## In short

Neoul Magok is a raw fish restaurant with outdoor tent seating on Balsan pojang street, a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Balsan Station in Gangseo, Seoul. The writer stopped by after work for the aged sashimi set for two (₩53,000) with Donghae soju, sampling salmon, red seabream, tuna, flounder, mackerel, and mullet alongside side dishes. A good spot to sit under the tent and enjoy a cool evening with soju after work.

On my way home from work, I suddenly craved some aged sashimi, haha…

Rather than just eating raw fish, I wanted somewhere with a good atmosphere for a drink, so while searching I found Neoul Magok, which even has outdoor tent seating on the Balsan pojang street.

The weather was cool and perfect for eating outside, and they had a solid lineup of aged sashimi dishes, so I decided this was the place for dinner.

I went in expecting a casual spot for sashimi and soju after work, but I was surprised by how varied the menu was — plenty of options to pick and choose from.

## Location and how to get to Neoul Magok

![Neoul Magok sign near Exit 1 of Balsan Station](https://img.superchart.com/images/neoul-magok-aged-sashimi-yajang/neoul-magok-aged-sashimi-yajang-07-1e4i4-900.webp)

Neoul Magok is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Balsan Station. It's roughly in the middle of the Balsan pojang street, so walking along the row of tent bars, the sign was easy to spot.

The Neoul sign is visible even from a distance, so I didn't worry about getting lost on my first visit. With the weather this cool these days, dining in the outdoor tent seats was a great way to soak up the atmosphere.

Anyone looking for a Balsan tent-seating raw fish restaurant will probably appreciate this vibe. As evening fell, the lively energy typical of a pojang street kicked in, and it really felt like the after-work drink spot it's meant to be.

## Retro seafood pojang vibes, indoors and out

From outside, it has that relaxed pojang (tent bar) feel, and once you step in, it's decorated with a retro seafood-pojang atmosphere.

The place isn't huge, but the tables didn't feel cramped, with several 2–4 person tables that seemed good for friends or couples.

Personally, on a nice-weather day like this, I thought the outdoor tent seats had the best atmosphere.

It was nice that the indoor and outdoor vibes were different enough that you could choose based on your mood, and I felt this place suited anyone wanting to enjoy sashimi in that easygoing Balsan tent-restaurant atmosphere.

So if you're looking for a good aged sashimi spot near Magok-Balsan Station and also want the outdoor tent experience, this one's worth adding to your list.

## What's on the menu

The signature menu is the aged sashimi set, available for 2 or 3–4 people, plus a seafood set that's good for larger groups. They also have steamed seafood, whelk hot pot, and freshwater shrimp spicy soup, so there's plenty for anyone who wants more than just raw fish. What I especially liked was that they had seasonal seafood dishes.

When I visited, it was prawn season, so grilled prawns and raw shrimp sashimi were on the menu — I'd love to try the seasonal picks next time. Side dishes like seafood ramyeon or jjapa-fry work well as a meal-ending option, so you can cover everything from drinking snacks to a full meal in one place. If you're after a Balsan aged sashimi restaurant, it's worth browsing the seasonal menu too, not just the standard sashimi — makes choosing more fun.

## The aged sashimi set for two, ₩53,000

We ordered the aged sashimi set for two at ₩53,000, along with Donghae soju at ₩6,000.

![Aged sashimi set for two served across several plates](https://img.superchart.com/images/neoul-magok-aged-sashimi-yajang/neoul-magok-aged-sashimi-yajang-14-19twk-900.webp)

After a short wait, the sashimi set arrived — not just one big plate, but several plates and side dishes laid out together, making the table feel full. Each dish had that retro touch, so even the table setting itself was fun to look at.

The aged sashimi included salmon, red seabream, tuna, flounder, mackerel, mullet, and more. With so many types, it was fun trying each one and comparing the taste and texture — even sashimi can feel very different piece by piece, which made for a great soju pairing.

Being well-aged sashimi, everything had that chewy, springy texture typical of the style. Personally, the salmon was my favorite — it melted softly but wasn't too rich or heavy, so I kept reaching for more. It was nice that the set offered both light options like flounder and red seabream and softer ones like salmon, letting you pick based on your taste.

It was also delicious wrapped in perilla leaf!

The tuna was sliced thick too, so the texture was great and the softness was insane!

When I choose a raw fish restaurant, freshness matters, but so does how many customers a place consistently gets — I figure a decent turnover means better ingredient management. That day there were plenty of customers, and the aged sashimi was in great condition, which was satisfying.

Aged sashimi has its own charm that's different from just-fresh raw fish — that particular chewy texture and umami you get from proper aging feels different from eating raw fish straight off the boat.

## Side dishes and the mini clam soup

I liked that the sashimi set didn't come with just the fish alone — it arrived with a bunch of side dishes too. Perilla leaves, seaweed, and wasabi came as standard, plus vinegar-chili sauce, sesame oil sauce, and ssamjang, so you could mix and match with the same fish.

A mini clam soup came alongside, good for a spoonful of broth between bites, and the minari cabbage salad refreshed the palate nicely.

With sautéed mushrooms and corn salad also on the table, there was plenty to pair with the raw fish. Having a warm mini clam soup on the side made it much better than eating sashimi non-stop — a sip of broth between bites paired perfectly with soju.

They also served vinegared rice, so you could eat it like sushi — a nice bonus that gave this Balsan aged sashimi spot an edge.

## Why I'd come back again

This time I started with the aged sashimi set, but looking at the menu, there were seasonal dishes I'd love to try next time. I've already decided on my next order — daebang-eo (giant amberjack)!! When amberjack season hits, I want to try it properly alongside the aged sashimi, so I'll probably be back at Neoul Magok whenever I get a craving for raw fish around Balsan.

It was the kind of place that's easy to drop by casually after work for sashimi and soju, and I think it's a solid choice for anyone looking for an aged sashimi restaurant in Balsan.
