Today I'm introducing a café near Gwanghwamun. If you're into French culture, you might have heard of this one before.

I'd been curious about this place, so I finally went to check it out! If you're hunting for Gwanghwamun café desserts or a spot for a Cheonggyecheon café date, keep reading ( ˶'ᵕ'˶ )

## What do the exterior and signage look like?

Lemangdoré is spread across three floors. From the moment I saw it, I could feel that French vibe, so I was already a little excited before even walking in. Apparently there's a main location in Seorae Village too, but it was nice to find this atmosphere near Gwanghwamun as well. The owner's love of French style shows up everywhere.

## 1st-floor goods shop and coffee bean lineup

The 1st floor of Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun is both where you order and where you can browse goods. There's a fairly wide range, from coffee-related items to whole beans and drip bags.

French red mixed with mahogany wood, with artwork and small objects blended in naturally. I'm a fan of these warm-toned spaces, so I found myself looking around the moment I walked in.

The beans come in everything from 1kg bags to drip bags, so if you brew coffee at home, there's fun to be had just browsing.

I thought, they must be pretty confident about their beans haha.

There's a bakery section too, so it was fun picking something to pair with the coffee.

For a bakery this good near City Hall, I don't think I'd want to just grab a coffee and leave without checking out the bread too. So today I started by browsing the bread first haha.

### A La Marzocco machine behind the bar

They're using a La Marzocco machine! There are seats on the 1st floor too. Runners kept stopping by for a quick drink before heading out — it definitely felt like a neighborhood favorite.

## What is the 2nd-floor seating area like?

Heading up to the 2nd floor at Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun, the space clearly opens up. It looked comfortable enough for groups, and also great for a relaxed chat with a friend over coffee.

French red blends with mahogany wood for an overall warm feel, and plants scattered throughout keep the space from feeling closed in with all that green.

There were works by artist Jeong Min-seon, along with what looked like children's artwork, so I ended up wandering around slowly taking it all in. The art alone makes it worth a look — pretty good for a Cheonggyecheon café date spot, don't you think? The music suited the space well too, so I ended up sitting longer than I expected haha ( ᵕᴗᵕ )

## 3rd-floor Fritz Hansen showroom

And the place I spent the most time browsing was the 3rd floor of Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun. It's set up as a Fritz Hansen showroom.

With plenty of sofas and comfortable, clean, pretty furniture, plus a green view through the windows, the atmosphere was really nice. I took a few extra photos here haha.

The 3rd floor feels less like typical café seating and more like a furniture showroom you get to actually sit in, so it was a great spot for a short rest.

I also thought this would make a solid combo with the Eulmildae pyongyang naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) place right next door — eat, take a walk, then come here for coffee. Sounds perfect.

## Oat milk latte ₩7,000: one of the best lattes in Seoul?

Now for the coffee. I ordered the oat milk latte (₩7,000), made with Noir beans, and wow, this was way more my style than I expected. From the first sip, the nutty flavor just wrapped around my mouth. This is exactly it!! kind of taste (。•̀ᴗ-)✧

There's the soft, nutty character you get from oat milk, but the coffee aroma still comes through strongly. I especially loved how much bean fragrance rose up toward my nose. The Noir beans give the latte a rich, dense quality that I really liked in this combination.

If you're out searching for a great latte in Seoul, I'd recommend trying the Noir bean oat milk latte at least once. I think I'll order it again next time too.

## Jambon-beurre ₩11,000: how does the sandwich taste?

Just having the latte alone felt like it wasn't enough, so I also ordered the jambon-beurre. Priced at ₩11,000. Right away, the ham was packed in thick, so it looked pretty generous in portion.

The baguette is filled generously with ham and spread with mustard sauce. The baguette wasn't too hard, more moist, so it was easy to eat. The ham was also moist without being too salty or too bland. Adding pepper made the flavor pop even more. I was pretty hungry that day, so I ate it without even thinking — literally gone in seconds.

Try ordering the jambon-beurre alongside your coffee. The salty ham and nutty latte combo worked better together than I expected (っ˘ڡ˘ς)

## Baked goods gift sets and the order kiosk

The pink-toned madeleines and the sleekly designed financiers come in several variations. Six pieces for ₩30,000, each with a different design, made it feel like a little gift. Just seeing the box open already gave off a visually elevated feel for a box of baked goods.

Great for eating yourself, but also the kind of set that would catch the eye of someone looking for a stylish baked-goods gift.

## Is Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun worth a visit?

Personally, the thing that stuck with me most that day was the oat milk latte. It was nutty with a clear coffee character, so every sip was good all the way through. That's why I'd quietly recommend this place to anyone searching for a great latte in Seoul haha. And if you're after Gwanghwamun café desserts and want a bakery item or sandwich alongside, the jambon-beurre was also solid. If you're coming for a Cheonggyecheon café date, chatting comfortably in a sofa seat on the 3rd floor sounds like fun too.
