Ever have one of those days when you're craving ramen but can't decide where to go? That was me, so I headed to Menya Seoul on the basement floor of Lotte Department Store Incheon — a go-to ramen spot in Guwol-dong. Spoiler: if you love dongpo pork (braised pork belly), you'll be very happy here! Let's get into the honest review :)

Menya Seoul isn't a standalone building — it's an open-style stall inside the department store's food court. The entrance is open on all sides so there's basically no way to get lost even on your first visit, and menu models displayed out front let you see what kind of place it is from a distance.

Inside, Menya Seoul is neatly arranged around bar-style seating. The layout makes solo dining comfortable, and quite a few people were stopping in alone mid-shopping trip!

There are also long tables, which look great for groups of 2-3 sitting together. Each seat comes stocked with lemon, kelp, vinegar and the like, and there was a sign for a review event too!

You can pick your topping — dongpo pork or jambon — and your broth — mild, spicy, or mala — separately. There's also single, set, and double set options so you can order based on how hungry you are.

I took one bite of the dongpo pork and just went — wow, so soft.

The fat layer was cooked through just right — press it with chopsticks and it falls apart, melting in your mouth, no exaggeration. Totally different texture from thin-sliced char siu.

The crispy gyoza lives up to its name — pan-seared crisp on the outside, and it was perfect popped in one at a time between spoonfuls of that rich broth :)

The karaage was fried to order too, crispy outside and juicy inside.

One set alone was plenty filling for an adult.

That said, the broth is on the rich side, so if you're after something light and clean, this might not be quite your style.
