It ended around 7pm, just when I was getting hungry, so I looked up good spots nearby and found Eungkeum Tteokbokki. It's not just tteokbokki (spicy rice cake stew) — they also do gimbap (seaweed rice roll), sundae (blood sausage), fried snacks, and even chicken. It's basically a full snack-food restaurant. We ended up with a much bigger, better dinner than expected. This is a soup-style tteokbokki you keep simmering warm on an induction burner, and it's a bit spicier than Shin Ramyun. My husband can't handle spicy food well, but he surprisingly managed this Yeonnam-dong tteokbokki just fine. The ingredients were super fresh and the seasoning was spot on, so it was really good. It is pretty large though, so it filled my mouth completely and was a bit hard to chew at first, haha. Even looking back at it now, the gimbap ends look mouthwateringly good. They have several kinds of gimbap, so next time I want to try two different ones. Pairing it with a cold Asahi bottled beer made everything taste even better. This felt like the perfect finishing touch to a Yeonnam-dong snack-food meal — draft beer would probably be just as good with it.
