## In short

Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch is a Korean restaurant near Balsan Station in Gangseo, Seoul. This visit was for nakwoosae, a hot pot with octopus, beef brisket, and shrimp, paired with flying fish roe mayo rice balls and Terra beer, and the shrimp were big while the thin beef brisket stayed soft against the spicy sauce. Nakwoosae is a great pick when you want seafood and meat together without the beef tripe.

It had been a while since I wanted something spicy, so I headed to Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch near Balsan Station!!

## Seating and the after-work dinner vibe

The tables have decent spacing and there are seats big enough for a group, so it looks like a good spot for friends to gather or for an office dinner! Plenty of seating too.

## Why I ordered nakwoosae instead of nakgopsae

I usually go for naktaesae or nakgopsae, but this time I tried nakwoosae, which comes with octopus + beef brisket + shrimp.

I also added the flying fish roe mayo rice ball, thinking it would go well with the spicy broth, and paired it with a cold glass of Terra 🍺 If you're near Balsan Station looking for a spicy hot pot or nakgopsae, this could be worth checking out!

## Basic banchan: seaweed soup, wraps, dongchimi

Warm seaweed soup, lettuce wraps, and dongchimi broth came out first. These basic side dishes matter a lot when you're eating something spicy, and here they were put together well to go with the main dish, which I liked.

## What nakwoosae looks like before it's cooked

The pot was loaded with plump shrimp, octopus, and beef brisket, plus glass noodles and rice cake as extras, so it looked pretty appetizing even before cooking!!

The shrimp especially caught my eye for being bigger than expected, and the octopus was generously portioned too~

## The flying fish roe mayo rice ball, too

I ordered the flying fish roe mayo rice ball alongside. It's packed with flying fish roe!!

Having beef brisket in there too means you get meat and seafood at the same time — that's the advantage of nakwoosae!

Once it's on the fire and simmering down, the red sauce starts soaking into the ingredients right before it turns into that irresistible-looking dish~

The moment it started bubbling, that spicy sauce smell rose up and I couldn't wait to eat haha

## How the octopus, shrimp, and beef brisket texture held up

I tried the octopus first and it had that chewy, springy texture, really good. The shrimp were plump too with a nice bite, and the beef brisket was thin and soft, pairing well with the sauce.

It comes shaped into little rounds you can eat by hand, and the flying fish roe's signature pop combined with the mayo's savoriness made it tasty even on its own.

But eating it together with the nakwoosae sauce — that combo was great.

### Rice ball and lettuce wrap combo

Take a bite of the rice ball and a little sip of the nakwoosae broth, and the spicy and savory flavors blend together into something much smoother. Putting nakwoosae ingredients onto a perilla leaf or pickled radish wrap along with a bit of the rice ball was pretty good too.

Adding the mayo sauce on top is also nice!

A bite of bubbling nakwoosae followed by a cold sip of Terra hits just right.

Cheers~! Dishes like nakgopsae and nakwoosae pair really well with drinks, so I thought this would also be a good spot for a dinner appointment or an after-work gathering near Balsan Station.

## Nakgopsae or nakwoosae — which to pick

Nakgopsae with beef tripe and large intestine is delicious too, but if you want to eat seafood and meat together in a slightly cleaner way, I'd recommend trying nakwoosae!!
